Coronavirus and prices

How do you think that coronavirus and all that mess that's happening will affect the stock and prices on SS models?

It's already going to effect certain countries financially, especially with trade agreements. Don't know how Rolex is going to play it though.

I think the AD's will have inventory next month. The flippers will take a pause of buying every steel sports that hits the local ad. In two to three months we will back to the famine of steel sports. Just my two cents

Do you think that most problem is caused by flippers?

It will be substantial for all brands, even Rolex and PP. When you have a bull market the length and level that we were prior, any trigger can cause a large correction. All markets will be impacted. Only about 60% revenue from the S&P 500 is from within the US and that doesn't even address the supply chain and raw inputs that don't always get accounted for in revenue recognition or the emerging economy outlets for product sales in tourism purchases.

The ripple effects will be lasting and significant. All luxury goods will be hit and hit hard. We have at least 2-3 more flu seasons of COVID19 imo bc even if vaccines become available it's likely they aren't widely available in developing markets and the cycle will continue again. Supposedly reinfection is possible too. I imagine mutations will come as well, so it's anyone's guess. Rolex and PP and other watches are probably the least of most's worries right now, I just hope many don't have income disruptions. One of those times where this is bigger than watches.

There are stainless steel watches for sale all over the world.

Whether you want to pay the asking price is another matter.

I want to pay the retail price from a rolex boutique or an AD. Not from flippers.

Ah, there it is.

Since that is not going to happen, what will you decide to do?

It's more likely Rolex will cut the new supply significantly of SS if we start to see a huge movement in an effort for demand to stay consistent. As a result purchasing new at MSRP is going to be just as difficult as it is today. IMO your only chance of a decent price is to pick one of the thousands of pre-owned watches out there that have been hoarded. If demand slows too significantly, then I believe this is when Rolex brings the new Sub.

Well IMHO it is far more important that they contain and hopefully get a vaccine to counteract the global effect on people dying from coronavirus, than worrying whats going to happen with bloody watch prices.
