Scratch on 5711

Hi everyone, got my first PP 5711 last month and I've been loving it. I really try to take care of it these past weeks and I've been successful. However this morning otw to the office, the new security guy asks for my ID card and I pulled it in rush from my bag since the lift doors were opening. After that, I realised I lightly scratched the clasp!

So my question, anyone ever tries the toothpaste method to remove light scratches from their PP? or any other method anyone can recommend for these light scratches?

pic of the 5711 bellow

Dont polish or try any sort of methods on the finishing of a nautilus / AP ro. It will look bad and out of place. Since its on the clasp and not the bezel, its easy to ignore and will eventually not bother you anymore. If you are trying to keep it in good condition, dont wear any sort of hard bracelets alongside the watch which would easily scratch it and any sort of rough material jacket/long sleeve would also do the same

Calling fat_ninja... show him your botched attempt at refinishing a Nautilus

Much better to live with it than attempt to do anything with it. Watches will scratch if you wear them, even if you are really careful. A rub from a shirt cuff or polishing cloth can also cause them if there's debris on them.

It’s often said here that the first scratch is the worst. These watches look really good either mint or totally beat up, IMO. Welcome on the journey to the latter; embrace it!

Doesn't make much sense to ask for advice on remediating a scratch on the clasp but then post a pic of the dial...but that said, leave it alone.

In your shoes, if it really bothered me that much I'd send it in for service and have the clasp polished or replaced. Otherwise, you'll be surprised at how quickly you'll become accustomed to small love marks. :)

I’d leave it as is. When service is due they can valet it to look like new if bothers you.
Enjoy the watch!

Yes, enjoy wearing the watch, leave the clasp refinishing to someone that knows what they are doing

The clasp? Are you regularly looking at the bottom of your bracelet? Any pics?

I would just forget about it and wear it.

Don’t wear it, stick it in your safe and forget you own it, that way you can never scratch it!?

Mine has a nice scuff on the flip lock of the bracelet. Don't lose sleep, and don't bother with it. They'll fix it up when the time comes.

Guys are right, the clasp is always going to mark up, let that go.

OP was lucky - the way it happened he might as well have scratched the bezel in a bad way rather than the little scratch on the clasp.

Bezel marks are the reason I dont like to wear Nautilis , now bracelet/clasp its a less sensitive issue , for one is not in your face as a bezel issue. i think its easier to scratch the pcl's on a nautilus than the clasp, the clasp is not polished , is brushed so harder to ruin.

I used to get bothered by scratches but not so much anymore. Try to ignore the scratch and then consider a polish by Patek when you get it serviced. Don’t try it on your own.

I would post a picture of the clasp. But why worry about scratches. They are inevitable.

Wrap it up in plastic , completely. I do so with the sofas I buy, I just never get rid of the plastic.
A watch must! under any circumstance be held impeccabal!
Better put it in a safe. I do that with mine while I pour myself the eleventh beer , and stuff in my 7th double chees of the day... anyway hopefully I won’t scratch mine again, life can be really tough sometimes...

Am sure there will be many more scratches as you wear it. Have a few drinks on Sentosa, go swimming with it, and have fun. The whole point is to enjoy your time. If you're not enjoying life due to a timepiece, a material object that is easily replaceable, then let someone else have fun with it.
