Which one would you choose? 5740G vs 5270P

Hello,
Would you buy another perpetual calendar when you still have a 5740 in your collection?
Which one would you choose a 5740 or a 5270P?
Some time ago, I was thinking the 5270P is an old school piece... but when I put it on my wrist it was something very special.

Everytime I see the 5270p it tugs at my heart. Truly beautiful watch through and through. But there's something magical about the wg feel on wrist along with the 240 micro rotor PC with a watch as slim as the 5740g..... The 5740g not only has a crazy blue dial but something about the color gives the dial even more dimension imo vs my other Nautiluses. Truth be told.... I would totally own both if given the right circumstances... I'm good with just the Nautilus now.

The PP5740 nautilus has the same movement as the PP3940. Just that it is in a Nautilus case. The PP5270 is a totally different watch. It’s perpetual chrono. A different grade altogether. The hype is all on the nautilus. A a true connoisseur will want a PP5270! As a keeper

Sure why not.

Swore off leather bracelets many years ago, so between the two would go for the 5740. Love the 5270P but not a first choice for me.

Cheers

5740. More enduring.

A black dial 5270P would take it but since the current salmon dial doesn’t suit me I would take the 5740G with a 5212A, a 5167A and pocket the rest.

Out of those two I'd have to go 5740G as I cannot unsee the subdials on the 5270P being crammed into the lower half of the dial. Also fits my smallish wrists and my lifestyle a little better.

In general I don't mind subdials moved to the north of center (e.g. recent Daytonas) or two subdials south of center (e.g. 5170, 5370) but three sudials in the lower half make a dial look unbalanced in my eyes. The large black numerals in the upper half of the 5270P accentuate this compared to more restrained baton markers. If I ever got a PCC it would have to be a 5970.

The 5740 in this case, but a 5970p beats all.

I don’t like the 5970P because of that simple black dial.
The black dials shows not so many details like the 5270P...
I like Platinum much more than WG, because WG is not white... otherwise I would say 5970G.

I forgot to say that in my collection is also a 5170P.

Like both so I'd merge the two into a blue 5270G.

5270Ps sit in ADs display cases and 5740Gs are sold before they are even delivered. Easy choice for Me

I can’t think of a better duo. I’d struggle if I had to make the choice. I prefer the 5270 but the 5740 fits and suits me better. Both are just magnificent.

To me, the nautilus is, well a nautilus. The 5270p when I tried it on evoked so much more emotion- truly magical. If I had the funds I’d get it .

The thing is that, that you should like the watch not your neighbor.
I would never buy a watch, only to be able to say I have a hyped piece.
Before you have not seen a 5270P you don’t know how magic it is on the wrist!
To make automatic photos from a 5270P is very very heavy.
The 5740G is for me one of the best Nautiluses... or it is the best in the current collection.
Everything is really perfect, the dial, the Strap, the clasp, the points in the case from the watch to adjust it.

5270p is manual winding. Is it a big difference wearing a manual winding vs self winding?

Big difference because you don't have a lame rotor blocking all the good stuff :)

Then the Nautilus makes more sense, unless you already have a couple... or sell the 5170 and buy both?

For me, the 5270P only slightly edges out the 5740 because I’m less bothered by the 5270P’s day, month, and year wheels not matching the dial color than the 5740 not having a seconds hand. Great dilemma to have though.

Wouldnt buy to say I have a hyped up piece and I have had the 5270P on my wrist. It is nice but IMO way overpriced and that clearly shows by the fact that they are everywhere. I like the slim Nautilus and electric blue dial but that is just Me. Good luck on the decision

Not having a second hand is problematic for me in a manual watch but if the watch is automatic I am comforted that the watch is running and actual like the absence of the second hand.
