"disheartening"?
No I dont think so.
But I can say quite openly that David (CROWNCOLLECTION) is one if not the most knowledgeable on this site.
The rest of us, especially myself are "novices" in comparison, and hence we can learn here to.
Nothing "disheartening" in that

That said, and I certainly understand what you're saying, I was making more of a general statement about how people here looking for answers, or at least some clarity, place a lot of (perhaps too much) trust that they will get a solid definitive answer. I've been very active (on nearly every day) on this forum for a number of years now and certainly appreciate that this is often less a science and more knowledge-based speculation.

What worries me is that every time I see disagreement among veteran members here, whom I've certainly trusted with evaluating watches of mine in the past, I'm left with this:
Should I believe the guy telling me what I want to hear, and then go forward regarding that as fact in a future transaction?

I've spoken to a number of these same experts on the phone and, man, will you get some eye-opening, and candid opinions on other members', and dealers' abilities and scrupulousness. And while the comradeship on the forum is wonderful, it's not always the case when you speak outside of the arena! Maybe that's a dirty little secret, but it's not untrue.

I guess what I'm saying is, and while it should be obvious, it needs to be noted that this isn't an exact science, or art, and going forward with a transaction based on info found here, should come with some room for doubt. And with the money that these watches are commanding these days, it gets a little scary (see: the amazing Luke Rotman thread about the 6202).
Finally, I am shamelessly addicted to this forum and I love this place. Truly.

Thanks for chiming in, Adam. And to be sure, this was in no way whatsoever a comment about anyone on this thread, especially not David (CROWNCOLECTION). And you're right, the learning is what it's all about.
