Can you guys recommend any authorized dealers here in the bay? Also where can I go if I would like to authenticate a Rolex? Just in case I do a local deal with members on here.

If in South Bay, Valley Fair mall has Davidson & Licht. There was a CH in Milpitas that I just found out they closed and plan to move to Stanford Shopping mall soon. Thee is also Shreve &Co in Stanford.

In San Jose, for maintenance and repair and authentication, you can go to independent 'World Time' on Stevens Creek.

RSC in San Francisco is extremely helpful and does authentication. I did a local two tone datejust deal there and had the watch authenticated which included a free adjustment, but then I felt bad and had him do a quick one hour cleaning of the watch for a nominal fee that I was more than happy to pay for.

I like the Shreve at the Stanford Mall. Great customer service. There is a CH at Valley Fair mall but some of their sales folks are aggressive

Giovanni in SF - a few experiences there and all were good. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

There's also an AD in Campbell called Joe Escobar Diamonds that have an on-site watchmaker with a Rolex parts account (or so I'm told) that can do the authentication for you as well.

CH at valley fair doesn't have rolex, I am almost sure. They do seem to have all other high end watches though.

Yes I always forget about that AD, even though it is really close to me. I should drop by and see their selection. I was told they have used Rolexes as well?

They do but not many. Probably less than 10 pieces in a display all the way inside near where the watchmaker works. I like that place.

The first and only time I went there was with my dad and brother. Stood there for a quite a while and nobody helped us. Seems like there was just one person and she was helping someone else. I'm sure they must have had more people in the back...?

CH at valley fair does not carry Rolexes. Makes sense as they wouldn't want 2 Rolex dealers at the same mall.

There is an excellent Rolex authorized watchmaker called Kroman Watchworks in the Almaden area of San Jose. Josh Kroman's shop is amazing (looks like a clean room). Besides Rolex he also works on high end watches.

My experience was similar. I wanted to get a link removed on my bracelet and stood around, box in hand. After a couple minutes I approached someone and asked if they could help me remove a link; the response was that I had to leave the watch with them and they would return it to me in 2 weeks. Obviously never set foot in that place again. I think it shut down soon after... there was a closing down/clearance sale.

The guy who owns the shop is factory trained, he serviced my 12 years old Omega Planet Ocean for about half the price compared to AD, he's very knowlegable. Nice guy too!

The guy who owns the shop is factory trained, he serviced my 12 years old Omega Planet Ocean for about half the price compared to AD, he's very knowlegable. Nice guy too!

You should go for it. IF you trust them to know their stuff.

Few - if ANY - ADs seem to want to authenticate. Not much in it for them - apart from liability...and the $40. The latter might not cover any follow on issues.

I have recommended World Time in a few different threads here. I am actually surprised I didn't point them out in my replies in this thread. [ Edit: actually looking closer, I see that I did mention their name in my original reply above. oh well. ]

Son, the owner, is an specialist and knows his craft very well. I had him service my Bluesy and am extremely happy with his service. His shop was the one that local Ben Bridge and other ADs were using for servicing Rolexes, Omegas, Breitlings and other top brands. As he got busier, he stopped working with them. He has authenticated 2-3 watches for me so far (bought used as gifts for nieces etc.) and I couldn't be happier with his workmanship overall.

Here is a picture he sent me of my bluesy that I have also shared on his Yelp page.
