IMHO,go with a TS here, on this forum, and try to get the best deal you can. Good luck, you will always remember your first Rolex.

There are 2 places to buy a Rolex.

You can go to an AD or a grey market dealer. If you do not have the Rolex shingle hanging outside your door......you are a grey market dealer, plain and simple.........and no amount of marketing or rebranding (the trusted seller nonsense) makes you any different.

I have bought 3 new Rolexes from my AD in the last 3 months. Other sources could not compete on price......or anything else IMHO.

I am currently looking for another PM piece and none of the grey dealers here or online can sell me a watch for what I can get a brand new one for from my AD.

Buy from AD if money is not a problem.
Buy from trusted resellers on TRF if you want to save some serious money.
You can buy BNIB from trusted resellers and get your name on the warranty card.
But then again, who cares about the name on the warranty card, probably will never need service under the warranty period and if it does, it does not matter who's name is on the card. Its your coin.

Edit: Others can chime in, but when you buy from JomaShop you get their warranty, not Rolex. That would be a non-starter for me.

It needs to be the price of a service cheaper than anywhere else to buy from Jomashop. Worst case scenario, you have to service it. Otherwise AD or trusted seller.

Good point. I bought both my rolexes from ADs. The first one was before I became aware of the trusted sellers and if I was in the US I would most likely use and recommend them. Being in the uk, there is no benefit to using a trusted seller other than them having stock!

Trusted seller saved me 27% and an additional 10% sales tax. Rolex warranty with AD imprint was included. And watch had "stickers" as well. Going through an AD wasn't worth the umbrella.

I think Jomashop would be the last you want to go to.
I've hit up Bob's Watch for sure before Jomashop, besides AD's

That's just me of course!

Jomas will list watches for sell they don't currently have in stock. This has happened two times to me and I waited for almost a month to get them. It wasn't a big deal since they were super cheap.

Now here is the reason why I wouldn't buy an expensive watch from Jomas, their warranty is only through them. And it sucks? They won't answer emails or phone calls. My company has repaired 3 watches that Jomas stuck the customer with. One of them was a watch that cost almost 4k. So in the end the customers ended up paying more than the AD price for their watches.

So I personally would pass on buying a Rolex from them.

I would definitely give our trusted sellers a shot before you go the AD route.

At least to have a number in mind to negotiate with, if nothing else.

There are alot of models (BLNR, Hulk, most YMs) where you can get a better price going to an AD. I understand keeping the TS market going and most TS are great/reliable options, but alot of folks on this forum are too quick to praise trusted sellers.
It's worth your time and effort to just see what your local AD can do for you. Even if the price at an AD is 1 or 2% higher, I'd still go AD. You have your own name on the warranty card and you build a relationship that you can utilize down the road to get better discounts and receive hard to get models that are selling for premiums in the secondary market (SS ceramic Daytona).

Just my 2 cents.

I'm not saying you won't get good prices here. But, I'm saying to test the AD waters. What do you have to lose? Shop around. The trusted seller price isn't automatically the best. And sometimes the AD will eat the tax.
I'm not a TS, nor do I work for ADs. But, if you're spending thousands of dollars, you owe it to yourself to compare the two buying options.

I had a good experience with Jomashop. They offered me strong trade value on some watches and I asked about the Rolex warranty card. They happened to have it for the model I wanted and included it.

Fuck, I didn't get the umbrella, a hat, a pen, or even a glass of champagne! And I still shipped it out of state to avoid sales tax so I didn't walk out the door with it either. Go trusted seller all the way.

You also will have to pay for any issues if sent to Rolex as you do not have a warranty through them. The new Rolex warranty is five years. I would not buy an incomplete watch modern watch. Vintage, maybe. By the way you have picked a great model and a value in the market.
Glad that it worked out for you, however not my experience. I purchased a GMT BLNR from Jomashop, with probably the most misaligned bezel I've ever seen on a Rolex. The watch looked well used, probably a previous return, even though the stickers were intact. The watch was returned, unsized, unworn with all stickers etc. I was charged a 10% restocking fee, and spent months trying to get a refund to no avail. I understand that you may pay a restocking fee if you simply change your mind but not for returning a defective item Never again!

I had a nightmare of a time just ordering a 2 watch travel case from Joma. Literally the worse shopping experience of my life, not just in my dealings with watches.

I found them to be flat out liars about everything from condition to delivery claims.

Avoid at all cost.

I've bought a couple Bulova's from them and a few Montblanc pens. No problems at all with the products. Prices were as cheap as I could find anywhere. Everything was brand new factory packaged. My only complaint is emailing them. They're very "short" with their responses. They gave me the info I needed but I kind of got the feeling I was bugging them or something. It's happened a few times.

Go to the Classified section, and see the ads. You will see sellers screen names and most of them are listing multiple listings. Then go to 'who is who' section and search on their names, and see if the seller you picked has good reviews and how many good reviews.

There are some names that are very well known around here, davidsw, ocrolexguy, sohais, takuya, etc. (typos in my list, I am sure).

Once you have picked a seller, my suggestion would be to *CONTACT THEM THROUGH THE PHONE NUMBER THEY HAVE PROVIDED IN THEIR AD* and communicate directly with them, confirm their ad, get the money arrangement info directly from them that way (extra peace of mind that you are not dealing with some impersonator and that you are directly dealing with the actual trusted seller).

Once you have bought and received your new watch and satisfied with the savings, consider becoming a pledge member of this forum that has just saved you a load of cash and provided as much info.

(I am a newish kind of member, and in my last few months I have been a pledge member here for the same reason.)
