AP ROC 26331 or AP RO 15500

Hi guys,

I have to choose one for my Christmas gift but I can’t decide.

Both are Blue dial.

One is Chrono and have a movement who are very good and work very accurate and another is new, simple and have a new movement who I don’t know how accurate work.

Please give me yours opinion.

I like the ROC more at the 41mm size, subdials fill up the dial nicely.

Depends on your current rotation.
If you have a nice simple watch, go for ROC.
If you need a nice simple watch, go for 15500 (tho i would prefer the 15400)

Thank you for your help guys.

I like more 26331 but also I kind of like and 15500.

On AP 15500 I am a little reserved and about the movement.

I like my watch to work accurate and this movement need to pass time probes.

My preference. I’m a sucker for a chronograph.

15500 or 15400 at that price point you need to get an in house movement in my opinion. Also the clean look of the dial on the 15500 is stunning

I voted with my wallet and ordered a 26331ST.

In the photos I originally thought the 15500 looked better than the 15400, but over time I've come to felt the dial for some reason feels unbalanced. Hard to explain. I think without the markings on the bottom half of the dial the minimalism gave way to imbalance. Great watch either way.

And ultimately like dcash, I'm a sucker for chronos.

I had to get both - but since the 15500 is wrapped tightly under the tree - I won't be able to say which one i turn to more often, or how they compare...

But the real question is what type of collector you are, and what rules you set for your collection - some guys have 8 submariners and justify it based on position of the "swiss" on the dial, and angle of the '4' on the bezel... personally, I won't let myself own two watches that look the same from 4 ft feet away (very arbitrary rules of engagement)

some of my pieces I rarely wear, but get great satisfaction from knowing they are mine... and definitely the 23661 and 15500 look different from 4 ft away ;)

My vote would go for the 15500 although it is very close. Both lovely lovely watches and you cant go wrong with either.

I have both! But I have an LE version of the Chrono which is one of my favourite watches.

Neither is the perfect watch to me, 15500 looks too empty and chrono is slightly too big (both 41mm but chrono’s lugs are larger).
Both still beautiful, don’t get me wrong, close to perfection but not there yet.
I am hoping for a 40mm chrono next year, and monochromatic dial as opposed to contrast sub-dials, but this is purely personal preference.
And for the 15500 I’ll have to wait quite some time for the 15600, where I hope to see similar proportions to the current model but longer hour markers to better fill the dial, or the “automatic” back to the bottom part of the dial. Diameter, thickness, movement, date and hands are beautiful. Would love to see the white dial back as well.

I like this approach and I probably have taken a similar approach without thinking. That said, it all depends how interested the person viewing from 4ft away is. A WIS would likely spot a 15400 Vs 15500 whereas non WIS have said to me before "you have the same watch as my husband!" when I was wearing my SD4k and he was wearing a sub. They looked similar from 4ft to her but not to us watch geeks :)

HA! - Yes, the honest, much more ego-crushing truth, is that "MY WIFE" won't let me buy a watch if SHE can't tell the difference from 4 ft away...

Congratulations on your purchase. Enjoy.

You don’t buy an AP for movement accuracy.

I know that but my AP ROC 26331 rose gold work same like my Sky Dweller around +1 sec per day....
But in 15500 it’s new AP movement..... and yes accuracy it’s not his main characteristic....

I own the 15500. Sometimes I think I want to "upgrade" to a chrono but then I feel like I will miss the open caseback. Would really love it if AP release their new chronos with display casebacks like they do with most other models.
