Laser welding itself is not that difficult. I use my laser everyday, and frequently repair damaged watches. The art in repairing a watch case/band is the refinishing. Filing, and polishing a laser weld on stainless is a pain

Forgive my ignorance, but are they able to restore crown guards as well?
I think for many of the gents on this forum that have been collecting for over a decade, they by now will have an "eye" on how things should look. I've tried to teach myself through the years through photos, looking at different refinished vs "untouched" examples, etc. I have yet to see a restored/laser welded watch with the thick shape/profile of the crown guards that an unpolished example will have. |
