New to the forum and my first Rolex

My name is Stephen and I am new to Rolex Forums. I own several timepieces and I am a member of Omega Forums. I love my Omega's but I have always wanted a Rolex.

On December 3rd, I purchased a 1966 DateJust 1603, so now I am officially a Rolex owner.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and show you my new timepiece.

Thank you.

A folded link bracelet, which as i understand is period correct but I'm no expert. Case does look polished a few times and I question the originality of the date wheel. It looks like all of the lume dots are missing from the crown side of the dial but still very nice and the dial can be replaced or not as you see fit. It's not like they will glow anymore anyways. I'm sure "real" experts will chime in soon. Everybody likes to see what the new guy has, and that is a beautiful piece! Welcome to the forum!

All of that said, I'm not sure you were looking for a critique and do apologize if that was not your intent when posting. It's a great watch (great looking too!) that honestly shows it's age, IMHO. I mean it's 45 years old!

Don’t worry it is a real beauty. Love the older hands. The bracelet looks to be in great condition as well, always a plus.

It's an excellent watch. If the date wheel has a "hooked 7" tomorrow then it's probably correct. Mid/late '60s date wheels had closed 6s and 9s with 7/17/27 having a hook. Post a photo on the 7th and let's see how it looks.

Congrats and welcome to TRF!

A hooked 7 on mid/late date wheels—who knew? And you learn something new each day on TRF, thank you. BTW OP, I would take most comments on this forum with a grain of salt as you will get novices, such as myself, commenting on your watch with potentially erroneous information. Of course, there is no better way to get the correct information than having some "guy" make uninformed comments because (thankfully!) they will be challenged by those with the knowledge you seek. As I said before and I will say it again, that is a great looking watch! Well played sir!

Missed seeing this. Mid/late 1960s, yes. I would expect to see hooked 7s on this watch if the date disc is original.

I could be completely wrong but suspect the wheel is original here.

Condition of the dial, hands, case and bracelet are pretty solid overall. I'm a fan.

Gentlemen,

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome and compliments on the silver DJ.

However, after much consideration, I felt the silver DJ was not for me. I ended up with another timepiece that I greatly appreciate.

This is my blue beauty and I am keeping her.

I am sorry about the confusion.
