Discount & zero % finance

Just surfing about while taking a 10 min break from work

See Goldsmiths in UK are doing 10% discount on the speedmaster plus 0% finance

Appears to be 2 options

10% down - then 6 x 0% interest payments
Or
PayPal credit of no deposit & 6 x 0% payments

Very tempted indeed

10 percent isn’t a great discount .

I get 30% As a family member is a AD

But 20 should be achieveable.

Sorry - realise 15/ 20% should be achievable but usually that’s full cash down

Point was discount plus 0% finance which don’t usually go together

Got to agree I think you can do better than 10% off in the current climate.

If you must go with finance you'd be better off with a 0% purchase credit card if they are still available and negotiate a proper discount.

Well... Keep in mind that it's all about margins.

As an example, let's use the Speedmaster Moonwatch w/the hesalite crystal. Most likely an AD purchases this watch for 40% off the list price. If the MSRP is $5350, then my guess is that they paid approximately $3200. I'm not a business man and I've never owned a retail store or anything of the sort. But logic tells me that there's no way that an AD with a store front will sell it for more than 20% off (putting a $4300 price tag). No way they will discount it more than that regardless of COVID-19 or anything else.

And quite frankly, if anyone is hell bent on purchasing a brand new Speedy Moonwatch and find an AD offering it at $4300, jump on it. It's a great deal.

The thought of financing a watch just makes me cringe, bad idea financially. Watches in general are overpriced, bad financial decisions.

Except at 0%, you're using someone else's money, so not a bad option. You're not paying anything for the delayed payment, can keep your money working and you're paying the exact same amount if you paid cash.

+ 10% off

It’s my own fault - been around this forum long enough to have known not to discuss finance/ watch purchases
Should have known better to have kept opinion to my self

Apologies I missed the correlation.

Fair point, decent find if people want/ need to finance.

Cash will always get you the best price when dealing with an AD.

I don’t think it’s a bad deal. Yeah, you may save a few hundred extra if you wait, and sure you can go for that 0% card. You could save even more buying used. Let’s face it, at that price we’re talking another £300 off at 20%. Not exactly life changing. I got around 15% when I bought mine in summer 2018. I had a long relationship with the AD and I see that as exceptional on the UK high street. Given this version is being replaced, I can see why it’s discounted. There’s a couple for sale on Chrono24, new at around £3400, so only a few extra %. If you want new and the full factory warranty, go for it. You’re buying to keep after all. Just pass on the iPhone for a couple of years and stop financing obsolete tech.

Don’t think I’d feel comfortable financing anything in the current climate seeing as we don’t know how this thing is going to play out yet. In more certain times I’d say go for it if it makes you happy and you’re sure you can fund the repayments.

Goldsmiths.co.uk

10% already taken off select Speedmasters

If referring to the finance I would imagine you select during the checkout process
