Dream profession and a Rolex

Every young soul has a dream profession that sooner or later we have to part ways due to various life reasons, other have the privilege to live the ultimate dream.

Just wanted to make a "different" thread where we can just share these Ultimate dream professions and which Rolex would you be using for that profession.

As of today, I am an Architect and Entrepreneur and I love what I do everyday, but my dream profession would be traveling the world as a National Geographic photographer and my watch would be an Explorer 1. I love the simplicity and the versatility of the Explorer, good for climbing mountains, exploring cities and moving around, rugged and unbreakable, but also seeking for no attention.

Would love to hear your stories.

Many congrats and a perfect watch for exploring! My sister has climbed part of Everest, my mother part of Fuji, and my grandfather to the top of Kilimanjaro. Me? I'm scared of heights, London Eye was my Everest.

I was both a working photographer and musician in my 20s, and I occasionally dream that I had more success doing those things, but, now, as an owner of a business in TV production, I'm no longer sure I'd trade lives with successful artists, because I wouldn't want to be away from my wife and family traveling all year.

I guess I'd like to get to the point where I don't have to work at all! Then I could spend all of my time hanging with my family/friends and chasing zillions of hobbies. Some of those hobbies would certainly be more adventuring...but I'd rather do it for pleasure than work.

I'd take my Date+Day along for the ride. It's super functional, comfortable and relatively low key.

Adding to the Explorer dreams... I am an attorney, but my dream job would probably be a guide or outfitter of some kind that would allow me to pursue my outdoor adventure interests full time. I trekked to the summit of Kilimanjaro, and I admit that the mountain history is part of what drew me to recently acquire my dream watch, the newest version of the Explorer. Looking at it reminds me to make whatever I am doing an adventure, even if my day to day may not be as exciting as reaching a mountain summit.

Dream profession and a Rolex

Dream job: pro race car driver

Dream watch: platinum Daytona

I did find my way into the auto business as a financial director and I get to drive tons of awesome cars. I made the mistake of trying on the Daytona last week. This did not help with desire I have for it. Much want!

Current rotation of BLNR and deep blue Cameron with a splash of my Father’s Day date.

I wanted to be a photographer. I went to photography school right after high school and got my AAA degree in it before going on to get my BS in economics. The transition to digital left me a little cold on those days and I lost my passion for it at the time. But sometimes it’s fun to dream of what could have been.

Don’t think I’d need to change watches...my Sub would be more at home there than at my desk in an office managing content for a bike company, haha.

Interesting! I also wanted to be a photographer for National Geographic! Had my dads old film slr camera when I was young and evolved into a dslr at around 16. 7 years later and I still have the hobby

Dream Job: Musician or Actor. I currently make noise for the masses; but only as a side gig. Changing my stars in the coming months to get me back on track toward Dreamland.

Dream Rolex: YG Daytona with Green Dial...for now.

My brother always wanted to be a NatGeo photographer, or a surf photographer. As soon as I can, I'm funding his dream. Looks like he'll need an Explorer as well!

Independently Wealthy Philanthropist

Whichever watch I feel like owning or wearing!

I know this is a bit of a cop out but with the independent wealth I could fund a lifestyle that would allow me to Mountain climb, fly planes and helicopters, race cars, scuba dive, yacht, play polo and participate in any other activity that might interest me. Each of these would have an appropriate watch to wear.

Jobs in and of themselves are highly overrated I have had ones I minded less than others but none I could say I loved. They are more like the necessary evil of living life well.

Dream Job: Uncreative given the above posts, but a NatGeo photographer would be it. The thing I love to do the most is photography while traveling. I'm extremely fortunate where I have the means and time to travel a lot (with a camera), but it would be nice to not have my other day job (-;

I'm also fortunate to already have my dream watch, a 14060m 2-liner, but if my new job at NatGeo forced me to switch watches for whatever bizarre reason, it would be a 36mm Explorer 1, no question.

Reading this is interesting because I have some friends who have a couple of the exact dream jobs posted here.

I guess like a few others here I am lucky to say that I have my dream job. I guess it’s my second dream job because I was a professional athlete earlier in my life. But I get to develop great products for a select group of great clients (like Formula One - I’m in Abu Dhabi right now).

Dream watch: I was lucky enough to know what my dream cars and motorcycles were and bought them along the way. Not so much with a watch because I don’t think Rolex has made it yet. A Rolex Daytona has always been my go-to dream watch and I have two amazing Arabic dial versions that I wear. However, I wish Rolex would make them with the ceramic bezel. The only one they make with Arabic numerals and the ceramic bezel is the rose gold/chocolate dial one and while I like it a lot, I wish they made a lighter version like my panda dialed and white dialed versions.

I played in a band in high school and college, and back then I wanted to become a professional musician but ... just like what happened to most people... life got in the way and I had to abandon that dream.

As for Rolex, it's the one that I have now, Rolex Explorer 1. Really love this watch. My dream watch? Speedmaster Silver Snoopy.

Rolex: all of them

(I think Steve Wynn has come close to this, he at least had both in the same building.)

I had the privilege of "working" my dream job as a professional cyclist for a number of years. I'll say it again; Someone paid me money to race a bicycle. I was going to do that anyway. No way on God's green Earth could I have afforded a Rolex though. Now I own veterinary hospitals. Not as dreamy, but it pays the bills.
