Sinn rips a page out of the D-Blue Book
I love Sinn watches but for real, they couldn't come up with a design a little less DeepSea Blue-esque!

I saw that.
Everyone is into blue now. Just like titanium and bronze. Suprised no one has done brushed gold yet. Probably will next basel.

I like Sinn too, they make a nice watch at a good price. But I agree, this is definitely derivative of the D Blue and not at all original.

You guys are nuts. Its a gradient paint on a watch that looks nothing like the deepsea.
Noone is confusing the two. |

Fade blue to black dial. Rolex did it first. All they are saying.

How many blue to black gradient dials have you ever seen? How many gradient dials have you seen? All on a 44mm diver watch. |

Well it is round and black with a blue dial so yes it must be a blue DSSD copy.

It's not as bad as Tag's formula 1 GMT that slightly resembles the BLNR.

Not enough words on it to resemble the D-blue dial

You guys should really check out the Grand Seiko Baselworld 2017 SBGH 257 LE.It is neither a homage watch absolutely nor it has a gradient dial but take that amazing artistry that went into creating the cross hatched pure iron dial with GS's signature deep blue colour means the watch can be honestly mistaken for a D-Blue.
In low lighting conditions or depending on direction of the light, one half of the dial turns to an even darker shade of midnight blue or black! The GM sent me some photos and told me even the weight and dimensions of the GS SBGH257 reminded him of the D-Blue |

If it wasn't clear in my first post, or the second post above, I'll try to take you off the confused list.
I don't think the design of the watch is a rip off, I do think the dial design is. Here's my edit for the first post... "I love Sinn watches but for real, they couldn't come up with a DIAL design a little less DeepSea Blue-esque!" |

Naahh...It's still much cheaper than a DSSD black dial. Just divide the MSRP on that price tag by 4.3 and get another 10% discount. For a foreign tourist,he or she is then entitled to claim back another 4.8% of the Goods & Services Tax /GST

Honestly, don't really see the copy. Gradient blue dials are nothing new.

I think Oris do them a lot. Maybe some Seiko. Not sure now that you mention it. Still wouldn't call it a copy. Though I wouldn't be surprised if inspiration was drawn from the D-Blue. There is only one brand who wears the crown after all!
On the watch in question: not a fan of Sinn's take on divers. Great aviation pieces though.

I think I saw an Oris with a blue and black dial but it's more of a blended roulette wheel of black and blue. It's obviously not exact "copy", But it's not an original idea, especially for a dive watch. And btw I've owned two U1s and loved them both. One of which was an "Hourglass Special Edition". That was the favorite of the two. They've made some awesome special edition U1s and this is by far the most disappointing IMO. Not just because it lacks originality but because I simply don't like the way it looks. |

Instead of using the term 'rip off',perhaps a more appropriate term would be " Imitation as the highest form of flattery ? " So lets check out the circumstantial evidences we have so far: #I put it to you that Page and Cooper are celebrating their 5th Anniversary as the AD for the Sinn watchmaker brand isnt that right?Well I've got news for you guys.It also happens to be James Cameron's 5th Anniversary of the Deep Sea Challenge expedition to the bottom of the 0cean. #So it was Mr Jonathan Bordell who came up with the name BLU1? In the video he mentions about the time he drove from London to Frankfurt to meet Mr Schmidt and the staff to discuss ideas. He then asked whether they had ever done a BLU1 and they said no.So where did he get his inspiration from? Mr Jonathan is very passionate about his watches and certainly images of the D-Blue did cross his mind.So much for originality huh... #The Sinn U1 is an iconic robust German Submarine steel best seller watch and I can testify to that since I owned one.Why not infused a dose of D-Blue DNA magic into the U1 and create a product all in the rage now, a bicoloured dial watch every0ne can afford ? #Ok.Ok ! I get it J.C.'s green Submarine doesnt match the colour of that gun metal German Sub steel.Well then, what's the logic behind the model Mr Jonathan was trying to present in the video?Submarine steel? Oh Come On ! If you want to be politically correct then that's a U-boat 212 class Submarine for crying out loud not a U1... |

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
If you can't get a Deepsea Challenger get one of these with only 50 made. Oh, hang on...

Besides the D-Blue and now this Sinn, what other watches have a blue-black gradient that runs top-to-bottom?
If no others, then it does seem like Sinn copied the idea |

Sinn rips a page out of the D-Blue Book
I wouldn't buy for three reasons:
1. D-Blue copy cat 2. "BLU1" text not the nicest 3. Page & Cooper Tried to buy a 556i from Page & Cooper before but the service was so bad I backed out. I don't think a Rolex DSSD D-Blue at MSRP could bring me back to their doors! |
