Which would you buy Grey? Panda/ Pepsi/ Solid Bluesy

Hi all,

out of interest, which would you sway towards on grey market as a purchase?

1 - Panda Daytona 116 ref

2 - Pepsi jubliee

3 - Solid yellow gold bluesy (had a TT in the past for several years)

I know I am very indecisive around watches, I took previous advice and stuck it out with my black sub date 41mm and still waiting to see IF an AD rings me for a mint DJ, but considering above options as a one and done. Be kind to me ;)

I’m personally thinking of buying the Iconic 116 Ref ‘Panda Daytona’ from Grey. It’s the iconic sports watch which is extremely sought after.

1. 116500 panda, it’s a beauty, nicer than the 126500 panda and shortest production Daytona as well..

You might be able to get the solid gold Sub for under retail if that matters

All of the three, Daytona and BLRO extremely difficult from an AD and the PM Sub might be cheaper grey.

None, don't buy grey on any of those apart from maybe the gold sub - you'd be getting fleeced

For me thats honestly an easy answer:
1 - if you really want one you will HAVE to buy grey as you are extremely unlikely to get one from your dealer. At current grey prices (here in UK) the 116500 is as low as theyve been for a long time.
2- Yes but wait a little as the Pepsi recently got inflated due to rumours but should subside a little. As far as grey prices go, its more palatable than the Daytona.
3 - Absolutely as these are now trading WELL below RRP.

Out of those the YG Sub is the no brainer as its about 10K less than RRP. The steels are a function of do you think you will ever get one at an AD and how much you want it. No matter what anyone says, in my opinion, you evaluate the cost of your purchase against whether or not you can afford it, how much you want it and also whether or not you think it will hold its money. Irrespective of whether or not one considers watches to be an investment, its a significant purchase and you'd want to enter the purchase with some comfort your asset will retain its value. Its the same thought process with buying a house and spending on renovations etc or buying a car. With regards to a car, aside from the functionality aspect, most people have a good idea of how much they will lose as the car depreciates so they know what they are in for. More accurately, buying a luxury watch like Rolex is akin to buying a premium brand car (relatively speaking) and in those cases buyers very much consider whether or not the car will hold its value or will lose less than an alternative brand.

thank you for all the replies so far! I think its between the Panda and the YG Sub, the Panda has always felt to me the ultimate rolex or the ultimate steel watch and I very much prefer it over the new Panda model. As much as it is as low as it has been price wise ever on grey market, it is still substantially over list price and with whatever watch I buy, ideally would like it to hold most value , not worried about it increasing but hopefully hold say 80% or so.

I have always liked the blue sub having owned a TT model for a few years in the past, and with it being substantially under RRP, around £6-8k at least under RRP and a similar price to a panda, it feels like good value, but then it also seems to not be desired by many in the watch community.

Decisions decisions on what way to go and 2 very different watches I know, but I like both for different reasons... Daytona very elegant and classy etc, Solid yellow sub bit more of a special type factor being all solid gold? but maybe a bit Miami beach?

2, the GMT. But only from an AD at retail. I will not buy from the grey market.

I upgraded tt sub to full gold lb sub. Its not comparable. Full gold is intoxicating and makes me not want to put it down. The heft is substantial. However it is flashy and i dont wear all the time and have other ss pieces to wear so that factors in

Yes, I’ll take any GMT Master II!!

You can wear it and hate it than sell it in 5 days (if you are not too greedy) and still come out positive!
