Hi and welcome, you'll find the GMT experts coming soon but shouldn't 1967 be a gilt dial?

Not if the case back says '67. Most likely should be early white-matte dial as this one is. SNs are not always reliable. There also may be some overlap in this period.

I think gilt stopped around '65-'66......$12000 seems a bit steep don't you think For a 1967 with box n papers?....happy hunting

If you are sure its a 1967 then imho the dial is a latter service dial and the date wheel also looks like a white service 1 to me. Matte dials IMHO started transitioning in the 1675 around 1.63 million serial range. As for the price its a bit high for me. I have sold recently watches like this (with service parts) without papers for $3500-$5000 USD and with papers (with service parts) for $5-6k usd. Condition, period correct parts, and accessories to name a few things all play a part in the value of a vintage Rolex watch.

Welcome to the Forum!
Can you get the first three digits of the Serial Number. Price is ridiculous! Nick "Greekbum" is spot on the price, I would cut this price in half! As others have mentioned, dial, hands, date wheel not original to this watch. It could have been a gilt, depending on serial and may have had the small arrow as well. |

I'm not a GMT expert, but as far as I know, 1967 (serial 1.6 to 1.8) had both gilt and matte dials. However, first generation of matte dials does not match the one in the scan. Thus I agree, what ever the original dial was, this one is probably a service dial (and probably hands, since patina matches well).
$12K is way way too much for this watch. $5 to $6 is more like it, and even that is kinda high with a service dial. |

IMHO 1965-66. This watch would have left the Rolex factory with a different dial (Gilt), hand set (with small arrow 24 hour gmt hand), date wheel and bezel insert (fatter different font style) than what is currently shown in the watch.
If all original than 12k would be a within its price range but its not and the parts needed to make it correct are hard to find and also expensive.

The dial has been replaced as well as the insert. I would think that this originally came with a gilt dial which are expensive if you can find one. (The first generation white dial (Mark 1) introduced around 1967/68 are less expensive than the gilt dials.) The price is rather substantial - even with box and papers.

$12K is pricey if gilt with everything. You are comfortably in Pointed Crown Guard territory at that price.

To make the watch as it came from Rolex you will IMHO need the following. Perfect for me it will need more as the case has been polished to much for a 5 star watch for me and the bracelet end link looks bent or? But the watch as shown is a nice wearable 1675 just way over priced for what it is. Keep in mind the cost to change them and a service etc if needed while its apart. Below is what I see the market bringing for the following parts. Dial $2500-$3500 for a nice non chapter ring gilt dial Hand set with small 24 hour hand $750-$1000 Bezel Insert $350-$600 Date wheel $175-$300

The bezel insert is an original Rolex replacement insert. The originals back during 1967 had a much fatter font. I wouldn't lose any sleep over a Rolex bezel insert since most have been replaced at one time or another.

my father in law's GMT is a 1966 non-pointed crown guard, gilt dial, small arrow 1675 on an oyster bracelet, and it's worth somewhere between $7-10k, i've been told here on TRF, and he has the original box and hangtags. so $12k seems a lot for this 1675.
but then switzerland is very expensive, so who knows.

I don't think 12k is even close to being reasonable. I don't know what is making that watch so expensive from the picts you are showing me... I would pass on it.

I also think it is too expensive. As many mentioned, 5-6K range sounds reasonable for this fine timepiece.

I saw a 1966 GMT 1675 small pointer with an awesome dial and hands at Jackroads in Tokyo yesterday for 1,270,000 yen or about 12,700 usd. 12k seems high for this 1675, I would pass.
Cheers and good luck hunting a proper 12k GMT. |
