My favorite 14060M vs 114060

I used to be a 14060M fan boy because really fond to its classic look.

Always felt 114060 lugs looks fat and ugly, unbalanced with its 20mm bracelet.

Now I really like my 114060 because:
- Better built robust case (still fit nice with smaller wrist) also looks and feel more expensive. Definitely an upgrade
- Maxi dail (always like 5512 maxi dail !!)
- Broader minute hand (I like everything on the 14060M except its thin minute hand, feels easy to get bored with it)
- Ceramic when you want more flashy and contemporary
- Parachrome Bleu (hard to comes by in 14060M)
- 10 years recommended service interval!! (try to beat that)

Neutral for me: Bracelet and clasp. I know many peoples like the new one. But I'm not a bracelet wearer so won't go deep about it.

Some imperfection (for me)
- Ceramic not as easy to dress down as aluminum
- Not as dress watch as 14060M
- Green lume looks more organic

My take:
14060 - more of a gentleman dress/tool watch (compare to 114060)
114060 - more of a military built jewellery tool watch (compare to 14060M)

Conclusion:
114060 Plus points > Imperfections

Interesting comparison, never noticed the difference in minute hands. I have the 14060m, and I believe mine has a parachrome bleu, based on it being a G series. I prefer a bracelet, and the new one, and clasp and solid links are the best, maybe the most significant upgrades.
Enjoy yours!

I personally prefer the blue lume. I however feel that the 114060 is a bit fat

I have nothing against the 14060 but I would always pick the 114060 over it

I would probably pick the 114060 if only Rolex would scrap the paragraph of text. As it stands, I prefer the 2 line 14060M....but only barely.

I agree but imho nothing beats the vintage 5512 & 5513 examples. Yet the 114060 has all new technology from Rolex (ceramic, clasp, maxi dial with torch-like lume) that make it very attractive to the majority of Rolex Sub no date fans.
It is a very nice watch enjoy it man.

I bought the blue one for my father last year on Timepeaks. It was very nice. My father like it so much.

where does it state a ten year service interval for the 114060? I have never heard of that.

Here's an article about extending the service: http://www.ablogtowatch.com/rolex-5-...ice-intervals/

It seems to apply to all Oyster and Cellini family models, so I'm assuming the 114060 falls under that category?

The 14060M is such a classic. My AD had one when i was shopping, if the bracelet had been in better shape i might have grabbed it instead of the 114060.

I bought in Dec 2015 and was told 5 yr warranty, ten year service.

Good post. I don't understand the comment about the minute hand. I don't quite grasp how a minute hand can get boring?

I find it humorous that so many non-stylish guys fuss so much over how their Rolex might make them look. No one is looking at your watch. They're looking at your hopefully full head of hair, clothing style, shoes and fitness before anything else.

With that said, I'd never rock an old Sub. It looks dated to me. Ceramic all day.

If folks are looking for my full head of hair they'll need a Delorean time machine (with vintage flux capacitor) to go back in time to find that hair. I'm new to Rolex, having been an Omega man for ages. And I'm not a collector - I wear my watches daily. I accumulate rather than collect.

I like the older subs before the ceramic. The ceramic certainly looks great, but it's dressier IMHO and I like my dive watches more military-looking. But that's just me. What do you expect from an Omega guy?

Sub vs Sub

I totally agree with you Yehlai. I loved my 14060m and never thought of going new, but after I went to an AD just to try one on I traded my M for a 114060 and never looked back.

I do prefer the 2 line 14060m for many of the reasons you mentioned. Better proportions, clean face, less blingy aluminum insert, and lug holes!

For modern reference improvement on a Sub I choose the SD43.

Thanks for the review. I second, that the 114060‘s design can grow on classic RLX design lovers. At least, that‘s my experience. That being said, I‘m into distressed/vintage watch straps and don‘t like them on the 114060, at all. The 14060 is much more of a timeless strap queen imho, so I‘d always pick that one.

I don't know about the minute hand being boring, a little fat maybe but not boring.

the minute hand is a cheap upgrade (both hands) from a 16610LV.

I have both and prefer the 14060. The size and proportions on 14060 makes the watch more classy imho. I have the two liner and will be adding the four liner soon. I also like the cheap feeling of the bracelet. My wrist size 6,75” and 14060 fits way better and feels lighter. 14060 has better vintage look and its the Sub which comes close to 5512/5513. Finding the good one getting hard on these days...
