Patek is going Boutique

Hey all,
Spoke to my AD today in Europe and seems like PP is following AP. It's coming straight from the HQ from a very trustworthy source.
I'm waiting since 3 years for my 5712 now and recently signed up for 2 more. She said I'll get them but of course, I understand that when she gets shut down and has to hand her clients over to HQ other people have stronger relationships.

Hopefully the crisis comes soon and interest drops.
I'm ready for it.

Why in the world would they hand over client lists after being undercut for their loyalty? Is let them have it for 100k a person.

I thought Patek was pretty committed to the AD model?

Absolute nonsense. TS is on record stating numerous times the relationship of the AD and boutiques which he regards as complimentary and not competition. They are brand orientated and marketing centres and encourage sales at local AD. What I do expect is that some AD may lose their franchises as there are just too many. I am aware (especially in UK) they are adopting a much stringer stance at AD that dont toe the line and I would expect that some will be taken away for repeat offenders. I am aware that one had shipments suspended for 6 months

Can't say that I would be opposed to it but don't necessarily have a horse in this race.

No way. Why do people post such nonsense? And the 5712 story is as phony as a three dollar bill. Thanks for the information.

Patek don’t want to become a seller...

They will require ADs to open exclusive boutiques just for the brand. That's entirely conceivable. But I don' think they will open more salons.

Not going to happen any time soon (or until LVMH closes down on PP). So ignore.

Don't even see that, Patek is far less prescriptive to AD's than Rolex and to move to single brand stores would need the AD's to have STOCK!

TS has stated numerous times they are not opening Patek owned Salons at the moment. However they may allow mono-brand Patek "boutiques" owned by local ADs. This is the Rolex model, where customers go into a Rolex "boutique" owned by a local AD.

Many Patek ADs around the world already have mono-brand "boutiques" where they only display Patek watches. This caters to a more select client base, rather than people walking into a watch store that sells everything from Tissot to Tag to a Patek. These ADs usually have another store nearby that displays other watch brands.

You're hoping for a financial crisis so that you can get a watch?
Clearly you don't have enough assets to purchase a Nautilus if that is the case.

x2

2 ADs I frequently visit have gone mono-brand and call themselves Patek 'boutiques'. They used to carry Rolex, IWC, Panerai, etc but after extensive renovations they now only carry Patek.

This sounds very logical - if they want to control the customer experience more tightly, there are clearly more balanced (and cost effective) ways to do it, especially at Patek’s scale.

From my experience even with AP going “full boutique”, in my city they took over the existing mono-brand outlet in the department store and opened a new boutique in another part of town. The team in the original boutique all still work there and my relationship with them or the brand is unchanged.

This article actually indicates that even AP’s new “fully integrated retail network” is made up of boutiques that are “directly operated or with local partners”. https://monochrome-watches.com/audem...etail-network/

Potential for discounts is likely to change if they went that way, but other benefits of the AD relationship likely stay intact.

10 years ago during the global recession, SS Nautilus was selling for quite a discount. But it was a different era when social media was in it's infancy and advertising was still done through print media.
