New member about to make my first Rolex purchase. Considering a used Yachtmaster or Submariner. Thoughts, suggestions?

Just because Allan and Dave said Submariner I'll say Yacht Master.
Welcome!

Welcome to the forum
Get the sub, It'll take more of a beating. The Yacht Master is a beautiful piece, but a bit more delicate IMO ( Don't scratch that bezel ). |

I would most certainly not consider a Yacht Master "...delicate". A solid platinum bezel is a touch more robust than painted aluminum insert.
The ss/platinum combo must be seen (and worn) in the flesh to be appreciated. And just maybe a person may like a timepiece that not EVERYONE else in the world has.
