Riding Electric Scooter with Rolex
Hi
I get around the city by riding an electric scooter. However the ride is a bit bumpy, and i my hand on the handlebar shudders quite a bit over the rough roads, going up and down footpaths. Is this going to harm a rolex? should i take it off before riding? |

No, but it might harm my self esteem.
The couriers and food delivery guys all wear Rolex here too. |

It’s not safe. Wait until the release of the Scooter Master.

If a Tudor could handle this in 1955, your Rolex can probably handle a scooter in 2021. Falling off is your biggest danger.

Aren’t those scooters how one acquires a Rolex these days?

Wouldn't do it! More suitable use cases are climbing everest, car racing or deepsea diving - Events that can truly beat the watch to hell

Because that type of damage would generally show up right away, in terms of off timekeeping or outright failure.

I wouldn’t. Unless your rich enough that you don’t care about ruining your watch. I actually know several very rich people that wouldn’t do this either. So, it’s really as close to being shallow and stupid to do it. Lol

90% of my commute and errands I do on my motorcycle, plus trips with the Pack, all about 10.000 km/year. I always wear one my mechanical watches.
I specifically asked Rolex and Omega ADs about the bike’s vibrations and both said its not an issue. Also, I constantly monitor my watches’ deviation and found out that: - AP 2226 and 3126 caliber don’t like riding, they start behaving inconsistently; - older neo-vintage calibers such as Omega 1120 Seamaster 41 ref 2254.50 and 2255.80 don’t like it either; - modern Rolex and Omega are perfectly fine, behaving as they do when not worn on bike. I just returned from a 1000km trip and the Omega SMPO 8900 caliber I had with me showed a +0.8 sec/day devation, measured between the start and end of the trip, 2 days that is. So my advice is to monitor your watches, there are a lot of phone apps for that (I use Toolwatch but better ones available out there) and see how they behave on short interval (1-2 days) compared to off riding intervals. I admittedly wondered the same over 5 years ago about wearing it while riding my Harley.
No problems to report. Enjoy! |

You should be fine, but be careful with magnetism. Avoid getting your wrist too close to the bottom near the wheels/battery.
I used to ride them around at my office before the city got fed up with them laying around and told Uber/Lyft to remove them lol. |
