Before the current situation...

....when we could easily get watches in ADS, some sold quick and others were known to be poor sellers.

The current situation seems to have made most models desirable, but obviously some more than others.. but, it got my thinking..

Back in the normal times, why were there so many hard to sell models in ADS? Obviously they and Rolex know what sold well. Why wasn't production and stocking weighted more towards the big sellers?

Or perhaps it was?

Dunno really..

The same issue happens today but the situation has been manipulated to appear that this isn't happening. In the past the AD could let the items sit in the case waiting for a buyer or bundle the slow moving watches with the popular models and sell to a single buyer which could be an individual or someone in the secondary market. This new market began when JeanClaude Biver at Hublot said we never put duplicate watches in the case. Now we don't put watches in the case except maybe one or two harder to sell more expensive watches. I am sure the AD is still repeat selling in bundles, but nothing needs to be in the case anymore. Take orders, call the client and they come pick up what we make available to the client.

I think you're right, but why keep over supplying under performers?
