Sad. Reason why I don’t trust online shopping for expensive watches. Either new from Boutique with me picking it up personally or nothing.

What exactly does it say when you track the package with the shipper?

LOL ?!

You always seem to make a childish comment on other member's misfortune.

Not right!

Just brining common sense to the conversation……do you believe there was really a watch? Why don’t you get a lawyer and help him find the phantom datejust????

Very sad. For others it should hammer in the point that expensive watches should be bought from reputable brick and mortar or the finite number of trusted sellers.
For me at least that does NOT include chrono 24 or ebay and their so called escrows.
I would advise the OP to call the FBI. May not go anywhere but if no package actually sent out or seller has history of this it well could.
Classic wire fraud/mail fraud.

OP, very sorry this is happening. What is the last tracking status? Postal service investigation lead to nothing? Was the package accepted at a local post office and showing departed/in transit?

You visited yesterday but haven't posted since over a week, any chance of an update? Did you go to the police?

Weird- so did the USPS tracking # actually show it's receipt at a postal counter /office ? Or did he just generate a label and tracking # ?

Update: The tracking number shows the package being accepted at the post office and sent out. It then reached a regional distributions center but has not updated since. I put through numerous missing mail searches and the post office has not been able to locate the package. I have reported the incident to the police and other applicable legal authorities late last month but have not heard anything back since, I’m assuming if I am lucky enough to hear anything it will take a bit of time. The seller continues to say that he has done nothing unethical here and that he is unwilling to lose money for “USPS’s mistake”. Last I spoke with him he expressed that he is ready to go to court on this which is surprising given it seems what he has done is the definition of unethical and illegal. Thanks to everyone who has helped me to try to push towards some sort of resolution here. I am confident that with some persistence a favorable outcome with unfold.

After reading this post and all the suggestions, I would take the seller to small claims court. You have every right to expect delivery of what you paid for. If the USPS lost the package, that does not matter, he should have insured it, you have a right to the merchandise your paid for. I also question whether he really took a package to the post office to begin with. Perhaps it was asked but did you get a copy of his post office receipts showing he handed the watch to the post office?

It’s either a scam by the seller or the box was lost by the USPS. If the USPS really accepted the package (they scan bar codes at different points in shipping), then how would the scam work?

Is there a way to fake them accepting it? I assume you entered the tracking code from the image, yourself, and are not relying on the seller giving the tracking info?

I trade with a vintage watchmaker that insists on USPS priority mail, and brother, it is harrowing. I have seen packages shipped quickly to a major distribution center 15 miles from my house, and then put on an airplane and sent 200 miles away. They have always found their way to me, eventually (days, not months), but I use insurance now on pricier watches.

I assume you (not the seller) requested a formal USPS search for the lost package? If it was really accepted by the USPS, there is a chance it could turn up (unless a USPS employee stole it, in which case you’re screwed).

If it was never given to the USPS, you should have a criminal fraud case.
