First Omega
So, I just got my first Omega. It's an early 1960s Seamaster (14770) with the Crosshair dial. I suspect it may be, and probably is, a redial, but I think I kind of like it. It's remarkably lightweight. Debating on replacing the bracelet with a strap of some sort, but haven't decided what yet.
The watch does show its age, being almost 60 years old. I think it's from 1961, but am not quite sure how to be sure. I know it's not as great as some of the fantastic watches I see here, but it's my first Omega!!! Open to other observations if someone knows more than I do, which is probably all of you - ha!!! PDG |

Cool Omega
That bracelet might be original. Is it signed anywhere? Maybe the clasp? |

The dial is redone.
I see the back of the case is dated 1963, but watch could have been made earlier. You could get a better approximation of age if you had the serial # of the movement. A 2 digit date code might be found after the reference number located on the inside of the back of the case. Either, would probably better be done by a watchmaker. Most likely came with a leather strap originally. Bracelet does not appear to be Omega, would be marked if it was. |

I thought the dial was likely redone.
The numbers inside the case back are 14770 62 SC. Does this mean 1962, I presume? I was thinking of putting it on a leather strap anyway. How could I go about restoring or properly doing the dial? Or is that even an option? Thank you for the feedback. PDG |

Congrats! My first Omega was also a 60’s Seamaster. Enjoy it and be careful of the slippery slope!
