For a long time I looked for a nipple dial gold gmt, or a sub, however I never found one I loved. The Yachtmaster was always on my radar but I wasn’t sure until I saw it in person (a friend has one) that I just loved the look, the weight and the feel of it on the wrist. I think it’s such a good looking watch. During the time I waited, I would stop once a week or so by my local AD to chat with the guys, mostly about vintage Rolex, and random stuff, I never asked if they had my watch or if it was coming soon. I would also wear some of my other Rolex pieces so that they would know I was truly a collector of the brand. This one is like nothing I already own so I am super happy I was able to get it. Salud!

Beautiful, this was one of the first Rolex watches I saw in the wild after getting my DJ, it really is a classic watch, congratulations.

Thanks, I think demand for certain pieces depends on location. I am in the Bay Area and talked to a couple of AD‘s and Burlingame for example told me they haven’t had one in the case for over two years. Either way not worried much about hype or demand as I am not planning to sell the watch.

Great piece, in fact. Last week I was telling my wife that I wish I had picked this piece 2 yrs ago when I had the opportunity, i was in the display box available for purchase at an AD in Miami,

Congratulations………. Persistence pays off!! Enjoy it. Salud y Buena Vida!

Gracias! I had the opportunity to buy one a number of years ago from Craigslist (legit local Rolex seller) for 20k, it was the older model 116655, I ended up picking up another watch but I always like it, mostly because it looks like no other Rolex. When they had a display only one at my local AD a few months ago, I decided I wanted one. Hope you can find one if you still want one. Salud!

With Rolex, how you manage to "get the call" is also part of why they are so special nowadays. So congrats for that as well :)

I agree, it is very versatile. Anything sport works well with it and I am sure it can also look good with a sport coat while drinking martinis
