No way would I wear any Rolex "off the reservation" in Jamaica. I wore my Tudor and even then I was aware of my surroundings.

I like my Casio Pro Trek for travel- always good to have a compass, barometer, altimeter, tide chart, world clock, moonphase, stopwatch...... I'll stop there.
Agreed that Jamaica is wonderful, but can be dangerous. If you are staying within the resort, and a watch will make you happy, bring it! If you like to explore and want to go into the mountains, down the beach, etc, I would leave it at home. |

Lived in England for 6 years as a kid, and it was awesome. Never wanted to go back. A kid at my HS went there on his senior trip and got robbed and stabbed, no thanks but love me a sausage roll and fish and chips wrapped in newspaper, ah, the milk man, the bread man...........good times.

Here now in Montego Bay. I did not bring a single Rolex. Only watch here is Omega Aqua Terra. I left the resort but did not wear it. No reason for the extra attention.

Coming from a Jamaican who spends a lot of the year in MoBay (Montego Bay), nobody in Jamaica is looking twice at your SS Sports model Rolex.

Apparently you should be almost immediately stabbed or mugged for your watch....
Never yet happened to me either, so I must be doing London wrong. The person posting that lives in the safety of SoCal, where luckily, I believe "crime" doesn't happen. I can only imagine Rolex owners living in Jamaica, never leave their houses, instead spending all day nervously peeking out the curtains....

Also my preferred travel watch! I think thieves and muggers in most countries of the world, US certainly included, can spot a Rolex, particularly on someone who doesn't look local.

Jamaica is a beautiful country with 99.9% wonderful people. But there is that 0.1% that would kill you without thinking twice. The average income of a Jamaican is less than 5,000 usd. So think how many year income that is for them. A lot of them literally can’t feed their children. Yeah, that 0.1% will kill you in a heartbeat for 7 years pay in the for of a Rolex.

Well. If 1 in every thousand in Jamaica commits a violent crime then I’d say Jamaica is safer than the US. Considering 2020 statistics say 3.985 people for every 1000 commit violent crimes in the US. Where’s your sources for all the facts you referenced in your post? Here’s mine. https://www.statista.com/statistics/...type-of-crime/ Sent from my Apple privacy invasion product |
