Thoughts on the AP ROO Safari
Looking to get my first AP to add to my small collection. Wondering peoples thoughts on the ROO Safari. The cream dial and the chocolate dials. Considering this or maybe the older model Panda dial. Trying to figure out what rubber straps to use with the Safari. Thanks

Thoughts on the AP ROO Safari
The original Safari was a classic that was very popular but for me, this “new” safari that you are looking at is much nicer. I think a great reference that can go with anything.

I only recently got started with AP but went through the same questions.
- From what I know, both use the same movement, AP 3126/3840. - Most of the Panda ref #26170ST I’ve seen had the high praised steel bracelet so if you’re a bracelet guy, finding one at a fair price would bring a lot of value, considering that adding it through AP Boutique or AD will set you back with 5500€ (that’s the quote I got). If on strap, that should usually be the old style uncomfortable AP clasp and not a pin&buckle. The crown and pushers come in rubber and tend to be pretencious and demand extra care. - The newer Safari you pictured, ref #26470ST is lacking the bracelet and usually comes on strap but has the advantage of ceramic crown and chrono pushers plus an open back. Straps come with in a pin&buckle style, although some owners have added the new style AP clasp that is supposed to be more comfortable than the old one, haven’t tried it myself yet. - Prices for both ref are going crazy and don’t seem to stop anywhere soon, so that’s a train you’d want to pick ASAP if you’re serious about it. Good luck and come back with pictures of your decission! Cheers, B. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I loved this dial! When it was released I wanted it but ultimately picked up a diver. I do recall when I was considering it, there were a lot against the colour scheme but I love it.

I have the Safari 2 and love mine. I also bought a steel bracelet for it. It's a beast on the bracelet (with double deployant clasp). The bracelet cost me around $3k US to buy off Chrono 24.

Not my intention to create you worries but did you check the bracelet for authenticity? I bought two off C24 and both were fake. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks for the heads up. But how did the authorized service centre know? I looked at the bracelet pretty carefully and there does not appear to be anything untowards based on finishing and appearance. Is there anything in particular I should be looking for? We do not have any AP authorised dealers, service centres or boutiques in New Zealand where I live.

Was the second AP ROO I bought and it was the original "Safari" with the beautiful Ivory dial and on the brown hornback strap.
Not so keen on the newer model in the O/P but I'm a little biased of course.... |

They didn’t have at that very moment an original one on hand for comparison but told me “on a scale from 1 to 10, it’s 10” for both to be fake based on the finishings of the links, the interior part of the clasp, where it has the screws, the ones I bought seemed to lack the precise finishing and presented sharp and not perfect edges… these kind of things. Appreciate the feedback. I'll have a look at mine again. I was not able to determine any issues like you mentioned but very helpful to know.
