Except that when it comes to Rolex, everything is currently selling well above list on the secondary market.

Exactly.

Something commonly overlooked in views like these is why Rolex (and a handful of select other brands) is experiencing so much more of this price growth than everyone else.

It’s not simply inflation lifting all boats.

Some boats like Rolex are getting lifted a lot more, because quite simply, they are special compared to the other boats despite the constant howls of denial here.

It should be noted that even before this insanity, Rolex has long been significantly outpacing inflation. My sub was $3250 in 1998, adjusted for inflation that should be $5460 today. Its a quite higher than that these days I think. Its more than inflation. The best comparison is gamestop. You have a bunch of hype, investors pounce, and prices skyrocket.

Interesting enough, someone just dumped 16 x 116710 GMT Master II to the WatchfxxxxUK, year varies from 2011 to 2017.
