Using my SS datejust as part of a trade

Trying to expand my collection. Just interested in thoughts on using my SS datejust white dial in partial trade for another piece such as a BLRO or similar. I also have a Daytona that will remain part of my collection.

Yes if Name was called off the list. No if not.

Or maybe still yes if the watch you pay a premium for is soo good you never want to wear another watch again. :-)

Sure, if the trade value outweighs your desire to keep it.

However, if you're trying to expand your collection, why not keep the Datejust and add the BLRO. The Daytona, BLRO, and Datejust are a nice varied trio that will set you up for a Sub or Sea Dweller to round it out. Cheers!

If you can afford it keep the Datejust.

Do you want the Datejust? Do you wear it? Is it a 36 mm model?

If you can find someone willing to work with you on a fair deal, I’d say do it. You can easily get a DJ later on if you ever want to add one later on

I would go for it. As others have mentioned already, DJs will always be around.

Using my SS datejust as part of a trade

With the premium that you would have to pay plus the hit you would take on the DJ I would highly not recommend this route. Unless you can get a deal too good to be true like a BLRO at retail then would never do this. The DJ41 will be a future classic. Don’t buy into the SS sports models hype. The BLRO is selling for about $16k. Retail is around $9k. So a 7k markup. You will lose Around $$1.5-2k on theDJ41 on a trade in. Dealers need to make money too. So you will practically be giving your watch away. $8.5-$9k difference. I’m sorry the BLRO or any Rolex model is worth that kind of hit on a modern Rolex.
