Watch winder or watch box?

Curious on who uses a watch winder out there or just a plain watch box for their collection?

So many people here seem to complain about winders, not sure why. I think they’re great for rotating watches, especially those with multiple complications.
When I had only a GMT2C I just kept it on my nightstand but once you get a few in rotation, a winder makes sense.

I love my Orbita winders. I wear a different watch every day. Usually I’ll even change watches mid day. I like being able to grab a watch and go, knowing it’s already set correctly.

Four place winder here. The watches I rotate through & wear stay on the winder, the rest are in a watch case. Love my winder.

Wolf watch box for me. I keep thinking I want to pull the trigger on a winder then I think I might as well use the money towards my next watch. Haha

In over 50 years of wearing Rolex watches have never felt the need for one of these winder things, when I have two of the finest winders in the world called wrists. And at one time had over 30 watches in my collection not all Rolex, I store my watches in my sock draw in my bedroom.

Discussed many times here, with pros & cons.
Conclusion: a watch winder is not needed, a shoe box, clean socks or something looking nicer is sufficient.

Well if you once had thirty watches in there where did you keep your socks?

Watch box.

I enjoy winding it and set the time myself when I want to wear that watch.

I have a couple orbita winders but when I leave they go into the safe. It is all personal preference whatever works for you

Cheap a$$ winders off Amazon sitting in the safe just so I don’t have to set the watches all the time as I usually swap them frequently.

I don’t understand all the folks that spend super high dollars in winders, boxes and rolls. My 2 - $35 4 watch winder have lasted now about 6 years.

You can buy a watch box with winders.

This is what I have. I love it. You have the option for either. It just needs to be plugged in.

Recently picked up my first Wolf double winder. Looks good in the top of the dresser (so the wife is ok with it) and is totally silent when running (which the wife likes even better).

Even when turned off the Wolf winders are a handsome place to keep your watches when no wearing.

Depends on what you are trying to accomplish:

1. For storage out of sight: sock, drawer, Peli-style case, home safe, safe deposit box, etc.
2. For visible storage with some showcase: traditional watch box
3. For visible storage emphasizing showcase: watch winder*

Regarding the watch winder*, I too fall in the camp that watch winders are unnecessary from a mechanical/maintenance standpoint -- they may be convenient in exceptional cases of perpetual-style complications, but never needed. But if you enjoy seeing your watches displayed, I have to admit that they really look cool in those multi-watch winders.

All of the above options can be had for not much, if the aim is simply storage of some sort. Best wishes
