I’m 5’8” 43mm watches look like they’re wearing me. Try them both on. I like how clean the “no date” face is (although I only have pre-ceramic LV Sub and SD atm).

Depends on your wrist size and also whether you wear cuffs and a jacket often? - these may seem irrelevant but really important when it comes to living with the watch - sold my JC as it wouldn't go under my cuffs and therefore only got used in the summer with short sleeves.

Value aside, they are two different wearing watches. The SD 43 is a larger heavier piece and may not be as suitable as a daily, but of course opinions on that vary here.

Good luck deciding
Yep you’re totally wrong brian mate

Sub v Sea Dweller

Hi Stephen, welcome!

I have a 6.5” wrist and only can carry submariner. Even I love the red words on SD43, but have to pass…

Hi Stephen !

These are very good choices. Professional watches, no real bad choice here. Rugged and versatile, they will follow you for decades. (By the way, my 6.3" wrist can wear very well SD4K aka 116600, not sure about SD43).

If I can send you one advice : buy the watch that speaks to your heart. Buy the one which made your heart miss a beat when you first saw it. I did that for my 16610LV and for the 116600 which followed, and did not regret.

This is, ultimately, not a rational choice. This is a futile choice, so you should not put too much of thinking in this choice, but more of heart choice. This is not a question of price. This is a question of "which beauty do you want to see on your wrist when you drive, when you shower or when you wake up in the morning", and by choosing the one that sings to you heart, you limit the risk of regrets, and maximize the risk of real, deep, long-term pleasure.

PS: I would take a serious look at SD4K 116600. It is in my opinion the best of both worlds. Classic and modern, bombproof but not too bulky, and incredibly well balanced from every angle. You can still find BNIB models.

SD43 is a terrific watch but it definitely "wears heavier" than the six digit Subs, and takes a little getting used to if you have not been wearing it for a while.

I've had the SD43 since it was released by Rolex. I would choose it everyday over a Sub. However, I would advise that you try on the SD43 before you buy, or commit to buying. I have the wrist for it and I like a heavier watch. Many people do not.

I have the Hulk 116610LV. Lately, I’ve been attracted to the Sea Dweller in the form of the SD4k 116600; mainly because of its 40mm size. 43mm or 44mm Sea Dwellers are too big for me.
