Nice review and images, thanks for sharing.

For me, the size of the 39's case and clasp + matte dial + balance of text on dial + more open/airy dial is the one. But, I can see the historic appeal of the 36 plus the appeal for smaller wrists.

I want to add that if they did a TT version of the Explorer but left it at 39mm, I think it wouldn't work. I think the TT version is right at 36mm, but I also feel like the SS version is perhaps a bit too stealth. It could use a little something, what exactly I don't know.
