De Ville ? No love?
I'm on the AD waitlist for new ExpII (or DJ41).
I was in the mall and happened to walk in a Omega boutique. Wasn't impressed with the new speedy (guess I'm not a fan of printed dials and that single gasket WR for 50m). I already own a smp which I love. Happened to check out couple of DeVille models and was really impressed with their case finishing and dial work. In all honestly, much nicely finished than Rolex watches in general. However, the Deville lineup is more costlier than their dive watches (??). I hardly see anyone posting De ville in the typical Omega wear threads so obviously these are not popular for whatever reason. Thoughts? Cheers! https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/w...vision/catalog |

I dig a couple of DeVille models. I used to own this DeVille Tresor. Regret trading this one...
Some day I think I'll have the "original" Hour Vision in my collection... |

What reference is this? I assume it's manual wind?

If I get a De Ville, as an occasional dress watch, I'll go for a 1960s model. There are plenty of really nice and stylish ones around, especially on the Japanese market, in the region of $500.

I have a circa 1980s Seamaster De Ville that I inherited form my grandfather. It's classy. I generally like the De Ville line, even the modern, if not a little better than the current AT.
In theory the 38mm silver dial AT is the perfect daily watch, but when I tried it on, it wore chunky. The De ville I tried on (2500 coaxial) felt just right. And for the record, I love the new Speedmaster and printed dials in general. |

Some very nice watches here guys.
I'm guilty of overlooking them too. I have old and new Speedies and a couple of the new Seamasters - and a nice old Geneve... but I've overlooked the modern Omega 'dress' watch range. Off to do some research.... |

Not as pretty as some of the above, but the dial is lovely to look at in real life. |

Here's my pie pan LE-
These came out in a limited run in only precious metals in 1999 as the first coaxials offered by Omega.
I bought my white gold model new in 2002, the last one in the Omega Reps case. I love the pie pan dial, hands and lume, and the use of the Romans and "arrow head" indices. It has the original coaxial 2500 movement beating a 28.8 which gets a bad rap in some forums, but mine has always kept almost perfect time measured against the atomic clock, and has been serviced once a couple of years ago in the NJ facility when after it started losing time. |

Here's an early DeVille coaxial chronograph-
3313 F.Piguet movement and the first DeVille chronograph with a coaxial escapement.
Beautiful watch which I really enjoyed, but the long lugs of this DeVille case made it too large for my wrist and I let it go for something else. |

Beautiful watches. The extra details in the case design really make it POP. Only thing I don't care for is the lack of micro adjustment in the clasp.

Some DeVille's are amongst Omegas more 'dressier' watches. For me though its got to be the Constellation (not the quartz version)

I love a good Rolex as much as the next person, but you have to admit the options are pretty limited outside of a few pieces. Date/no date Oyster/Jubilee dial color (sometimes) PM/steel/two-tone (sometimes) Rolex people jizz their pants over a font change. Coronet or line at 6:00 that you need a loupe to see? Come on! When a good Omega can be had at 50% of retail and a Rolex is 100% over retail....plain dumb. Buy either right and you can't go wrong. Personally, I get tired of chasing the endangered 904L stainless steel named after some soft drink or super hero. Especially when it costs NOTHING for a color change. |

Deville’s always look good to me in pictures but I find them less appealing in person.

Like 'em but these days it's getting harder to justify pickling up a true dress watch on leather. I think it gets overshadowed by the hybrid dress/sports models like the Aqua Terra.
