Wow, congrats! I always had a soft spot for the YM I couldn't put my finger on, but the photos in this thread have definitely moved it up a few spots in my list!

I have commented earlier in this thread, but without a picture.
Although not a slate dial, I am still in the family.

INCOMING 126622 Yachtmaster Slate Perfection

Congratulations on the new YM !
Definitely a great color on the dial.
I've just swapped my bracelet with an Erika's Original Strap.

Thanks! I have a quite a few Erika's MN straps. I wear them on my Doxa and Hamilton watches often. I have a Mirage + Turquoise on order for the YM:)

I have had the 126622 on the wrist since it arrived a few days ago and outdoors the only word I can think of to describe the dial is mesmerizing! The watch wears like a dream...more compact and lower profile than my 116610LV. The fluid curves of the case really integrate well with the design and the bezel really sparkles in the sun. This watch has exceeded every expectation I had for it.

The Yachmaster is criminally underrated by watch collectors and I am not really sure why I slept on it for so long. I have owned nearly every other Rolex model at one time or another in the last 15+ years (even the YMII) and the OG YM just never found its way onto my wrist until now. I am thrilled!!!

Here is another pic I took this morning to keep the thread interesting!

Good morning everyone...I just wanted to write a quick follow up to my last post where I was debating on trading the 116613LB for the 126622 YM.

My new Yachtmaster Slate/Rhodium arrived this morning and my jaw is on the floor. I have owned nearly every other Rolex reference at one time or another but for some reason never connected with pictures of the YM so other watches always jumped ahead of it in line. In person, this watch is absolutely STUNNING! There is no other word to describe it.

I debated briefly between the dark blue and the slate and (having never seen the slate/rhodium dial in person) I just trusted my gut and jumped in with both feet. I reached out to my favorite grey dealer and 16 hours later...here she is!

I am getting ready to size the bracelet but was too excited to share some initial impressions not to post first :)

The case is curvy and gorgeous. The bezel is less prominent than it is in pictures. The slate dial explodes outside in the direct sunlight. The light blue accents are perfect and attract just the right amount of visual attention. The overall height on the wrist is perfect and it definitely wears smaller than my 116610LV Hulk.

So far, it is EXACTLY what I was looking for. I will follow up with more pics shortly...thanks to everyone who gave me feedback on my other thread!
I love this watch OP, defiantly a stunner. Have never been sure whether I would pick the slate or blue dial, but this photograph has certainly pushed me towards slate….I think. Wear it in good health.

How versatile is the watch, compared with say a submariner? I guess it works better for more formal occasions, but does it look out of place with a t-shirt and jeans? That's what I'm in most of the time and I worry it might not be casual enough.

That said, I've put my name down for a slate dial!

Damn you Charles, I keep coming back to this thread to look at the pics....I am very intrigued how all of you who own this say the pics are fabulous but in the flesh and in the sun or natural light it is a show stopper.....got me thinking!

Just incredible, right!? I haven’t taken mine off my wrist for more than a few minutes since picking it up on Tuesday. It’s mind-boggling how much nicer it is in person, especially in different lighting. I never had the chance to sleep on this model. I’d been out of watch since 2009 and when I got back into the hobby earlier this year, this watch was immediately a must have for me. I never even considered anything else after seeing pics of this one.

Someone asked if it works in a casual setting, and I think it most certainly does. It can easily be dressed down and not overpower a pair of jeans and button up shirt. It definitely draws some attention, but not in a gaudy way at all.

The pix in this thread are so awesome I'm almost embarrassed to post mine. But, in answering your question, the platinum/slate dial is way more versatile than the Sub-at least for me! As you said, it can be worn when dressed-up (a point of debate with a black Sub), and it is perfect with a Polo shirt, sweater, or sweatshirt & jeans. See pics in the thread & this:

YM (002) web small.jpg

I'd have no second-thought about wearing it with a t-shirt & jeans, but that's not how I roll.

Since getting one (got one of the first 126622s when they came out) it has crushed the wrist-time of my Submariner.

Is anyone able to advise whether the Slate dial wears differently (larger or smaller) to the Blue dial?

It wears the same but because the blue dial contrasts with the bezel it may have the optical illusion of making it look smaller (whereas the rhodium is monochromatic so appears larger). Both are sleek watches and wear small for a 40mm watch (like the Daytona)

I agree completely...the Yachtmaster is the perfect blend of casual/sport and semi-dressy. It is as if a Datejust 41 with fluted bezel had a baby with a Submariner. I find this watch to be just as fitting with shorts and a tee shirt, as it is to wear to the office...LOVE IT!
