Although I wouldn't agree with making watches from endangered animals I've often wondered if the old Croc and Alligator skin straps were discontinued to save any controversy with the animal rights protestors ?
I know they went to Oysterflex a few years ago and I'm not sure if they even make leather straps now for Rolex |

They never used ivory.
There is a watch brand, I believe a German brand who used mammoth ivory for one of their watches. Obviously these animals are long gone so no issue there, did look pretty cool. |

The silver and turquoise dial OP's are not real silver or turquoise. The deception knows no bounds.

I think Rolex currently produces ivory (coloured) dials in the daytona. I wish they would bring out more models because I honestly love ivory (coloured) dials.

My Ivory dial TT DJ2.
Ivory dial no doubt sourced from a paint pot and blends really well with the yellow Gold. |

I found some walrus tusk carved into the shape of a walrus tooth on a leather lace last weekend at mom and dads house, from the Inuit tribe in Alaska. Souvenir circa 1975. No trading or selling anything like that. It’ll be a memory from travels with mom and dad….
I wonder where they source the Buckley material for those Dials? Any guesses?

Now this thread has got me thinking… I wonder if the Patrizzi dials are made from genuine Patrizzi? I mean it very well might be, as I understand it, there is really no shortage of Patrizzi’s running rampant throughout Italy? Now don’t get me started on the Hulk, as I don’t care what you say…I’m not buying that dial is made of actual “real” Hulk!
