116719 (black dial WG pepsi) vs 116619 (smurf)

Would I be making a poor decision trade in my 116719 for a smurf and add cash?

Smurf prices have been increasing and I know I eventually want to obtain one.

Or perhaps try for 126719 ("new" smurf) at an AD?

If you preferred blue over black, I would rather keep 116719 and swap to blue dial.

The color is definitely part of it. I also prefer the sub clasp.

Would Rolex swap dials?

I grabbed a 116619 a few months ago and absolutely love it - so it gets my vote

116719 (black dial WG pepsi) vs 116619 (smurf)

No one else can answer this for you. The WG BLRO and the 116619 are both great watches. Only you know what’s a good decision for you.

For my collection, I opted for the BLRO in stainless and the 116619. That combo works perfect for my tastes and lifestyle. But that’s me.

I also have a 16700blro so perhaps that might push me to swap. On jubilee though so remarkably different

The 116619 is a unique watch, nothing else like it. The WG BLRO is not, the exact same watch can be bought in SS. I'd definitely trade.

Even if I have to add thousands in cash?

This would be my choice as well.

You shouldn't have to add much....they are selling for about the same. Maybe a few thousand.

I would, but I've always preferred subs over GMT's
I traded an AP Diver plus a bunch of cash, too, for it, no regrets

Hindsight is 20/20 but I'll wear any sub over any AP.

You are talking about replacing a white gold watch with another, purely due to your preference and liking of one over the other.

Only you can determine if it is worth it 'to you' to spend the extra cash or not. Especially going through a reseller, you will lose cash. They more than likely will offer you 20-30% or so below the market value of your watch, and are making the similar percentage on the one they are selling you. You are paying for the confidence factor that is built into their reputation.

In the end, having the watch that you really enjoy on your wrist is what you should aim for.

Rolex offered to change the dial on the WG blro from black to dark blue for owners of the watch (to compensate for the release of SS blro that looked almost identical to the WG one). check with your AD and see if that is a route you like to take.

Not sure I’d go that far
