No supply issue, it isn’t your turn yet.

There is no turn. Put down a briefcase full of cash and they'll walk you to the safe and let you pick.

You can cut the net worth of any given person on those lists by a 3rd or even halve it...no one is NOT taking a stainless Daytona etc etc when they get that call. The money never runs out, different people just have more at any given period of time, and they want the same watches.

After COVID things will return to normality. The Government has been spending money like it is going out of fashion. People have all this extra disposable income they can't spend and decided to buy a watch with their holiday money. Rolex production was also hit by COVID. There are continuing supply shortages for all sorts of things and materials as the economies of the world are re-opening. And I suppose there is pent up demand. Also, amateur flippers trying to make a dollar in these trying times.

I want a holiday and a PS5 and a new watch. When the bill for all the government spending beomes due and COVID is no more I might be able to get them.

Just my opinion. Others seem to think that what has happened in recent years will continue forever and grey market prices will continue increasing.

You are in for a surprise if you think the Rolex situation will get better after COVID, because as the economic and employment situation improves people will have even more disposable income. COVID also did not significantly affect production, it was only a few %. The problem is not reduced supply, it is vastly increased demand, and supply will now not catch up for the forseeable future. There is simply a proportionally small amount of Rolexes to go around a huge amount of potential customers. Grey dealers are of course not helping the situation by hoarding stock.

I think it is inevitable that many watch buyers who are not already hardcore Rolex fans will ultimately tire of the situation and wait times and switch to other, more available brands.

OP,

My honest recommendation would be to buy the watch you want from a trusted grey seller and enjoy it.
