Probably they have to remain open due to being a Rolex AD status obligation. Even though the situation has come to I have nothing to sell, move along...

They are open for those people who want to start a relationship with them by buying overpriced jewellery and hard to sell watches whilst thinking they will get their grail watch in a year

No different than any other desirable luxury item these days. Walk into a Porsche dealer and try to buy a 911. Walk into Hermes and try and buy a Birkin bag. Walk into an AP dealer and ask for a Royal Oak.

These markets have never been stronger. Demand has never been higher. Brick and mortar stores serve many purposes for these brands. Walk-in sales are only part of the story.

Reality is that’s it’s a good time to be a “VIP” with relationships and a lot of cash to burn, and a bad time to be a “regular” person trying to come in off the street and buy what you want at MSRP or below.

And so it goes.

Well according to those who post threads here complaining about AD having display models, this is perhaps preferable.

Sure about that? If so:
.where do the secondary resellers get their inventory?
They originate from the AD somewhere up the chain.

From Rolex customers who sell them to secondary resellers for a nice profit. Common sense.

OP you must realize ADs are getting Rolex watches every week. They are pre sold and never reach the case but the sales are brisk. Plus, every AD I know sells other watch brands which along with jewelry which are on display and available for immediate sale.

Even if I won the millionaire Lotto, I would never pay a premium for a watch. For me it would be more logical for Rolex to put the real price on the list, whatever it is worth, and then if I would buy it. But pay an intermediary? Never. I couldn't see myself in the mirror.
I clarify that your comment is a true reflection of what happens but one has its principles too.
Anyway, I would like to see if the watches that are sold at very expensive prices are sold. I think ebay does not advertise prices in its "watches sold" section.
Have not used eBay in a while but they used to show "sold price amounts" on all items so their community members could set fair prices and pay fair prices based upon the recent market transactions.
