Do I trade 2or 3 for one?

So I currently have an SD43 and a Milgauss.

I was offered a Polar Explorer 42 for a trade for my Panerai 000 and 630 (plus some cash).

That would take me down to 3 Rolexes.

Smart trade or nah? I am kicking myself when I could have picked up the Explorer II all day for $7200.

depends how much cash. I like the 000, but not so much the 630.

Always a smart trade if you enjoy what you're trading towards more, and its a keeper. Either way best of luck.

Trade 100% Approved

Get out of Panerai immediately (in case they change their mind) and into the Polar EXP2 42

Yes, do it.
Moving down to 3 Rolex, from 2 Rolex + 2 Panerai, is a step UP.

I’ll be the lone dissenter and say I would not do that trade.

There are a lot of Folks who love to beat on the brand, but IMO they have a unique place in horology and your collection is more diverse with them in it, instead of going all Rolex

I like some Panerai but sounds to me like you want to correct your past mistake of not buying the Explorer when you could. I say go for it!

The Polar Explorer II is a great watch and would be a great addition to your collection. The Panerai is nice but can easily be replaced down the road should you want. Go for it.

I would have already done this trade. Provided the Explorer is correct

For sure…and I like and own Panerai

But getting someone (even a dealer) to trade Pam for a Rolex is getting harder and harder, so this deal is green lit 100%

Money wise, its a fine trade. I just don't like all rolex collections. But you can get a 000 anytime down the road for 4-5k if you miss it, so very little risk in doing the deal.

Meh.
I have a few PAM, 177, 329 and a 214 as well as a black 216570. It's a very nice watch, Ipicked it up in 2016 for a little over $5k, which is great, because, "market value" aside, it is a $5-6K watch. I wouldn't consider it above $7.5K and beyond that is hilarious.
If you really want it because "Rolex" then go for it, but the 000 is a classic.

If you want a GMT to round out your collection, spend $4K on a GS, something like the SBGE201. I have one, it's a great alternative to the 216570. Some might argue it's a better watch, unless "Rolex" is all that's important to you.

Sounds like a winner. But that’s also coming from someone who owned a Panerai and felt it was too big

I wouldn't even consider it, but then again I don't like the Explorer. I like a little variety in my collection, style and brands.

I sense apprehension on your part. Perhaps trade just one of the PAM's?

But I would definitely add an EXP2 to your collection...it's a great watch.
