Yes, and I told a few (true ones) here in an introductory thread last year.

Looks like it was 'punched' maybe rather than engraved?
Hope it holds good memories.
It might've been punched, but if so it makes me cringe to think about it. I was a PX officer at the time and one of my Vietnamese concessionaires offered to have it done for me, so I let him have it unsupervised. That act of faith might seem a bit naive but I trusted the guy since I knew he wouldn't dare jeopardize his PX privileges by creating any issues with my new watch. Whatever he had done didn't seem to hurt the watch any.

I've had a TT GMT, TT Sub, and recently bought a SS Daytona--but the original GMT stays here for the duration.

I live in San Diego and have been planning on getting my Explorer engraved. Any (safe) recommendations on who might do a good job?

A wedding present is one thing I would want to have engraved. I would not consider selling that watch either. This would probably make the watch harder to sell.

Regrets?

Do I regret selling it? I do at times feel guilty about it, but it just wasn't me! I had it serviced, with new white dial (used to be black) and new hands installed. This helped, but ultimately, I wasn't comfortable wearing it. I think that my dad, knowing my attitudes and how they sometimes were at odds with his own, would have approved of me flipping it into something that I would really enjoy.

Which in this thread context is quite fitting!

I dont know if I would engrave my own, but if I received one as a gift, I think it would be great! Also, If I am gifting one of mine, I would definitely do it,
I dnt like watches because of their resale value....I have my gold case dress watch that my mother got me for high school graduation. It ismengraved on the back, and is very meaningful.

I've been meaning to get my sub engraved for a three years now. I see no issues with engraving it, it's completely reversible

I am totally engraving mine when I find a great engraver:

My Name
"YOLO"
DATE

My wife thinks I am crazy. But it is a message to the people who will wear it and my frame of mind when I bought it.

May seem like an obvious question, it does to me, but, if you have the case back engraved, do you have your local specialist remove it and just take the case back to the engraver or do you give them whole watch and they engrave the back whilst the watch is complete?

I would engrave mine on the back if I wanted to. It can be replaced if needed by the next owner. But I haven't found 1 that I know I'm keeping for a real long time so I won't do it...yet.

Will Rolex still service a watch that's been engraved?

Here's my engraved employer 25 year milestone watch. A condition of receiving the watch was that it must be engraved. I presume that this is to discourage resale. I worked my butt of for the watch and I will never sell it. Sadly, not everyone feels that same and I've seen a few end up on Ebay with generic engravings such as "2013" or "DAD".
