GMT II BLNR a fad? or the next coveted watch

There is no doubt the BLNR is a great looking watch and very popular at the moment. I've called local ADs and none have them in stock. ADs advised
me they have a waiting list, and when one becomes available they can give me a call. I know I can pick one up from the rolex forums but would like to see one in person before making a decision.

What are your thoughts is the BLNR a fad or a watch that comes in limited supplies that drives demand. Will this be the next iconic GMT.

Please share your thoughts and pictures.

To me it is more coveted than fad. I prefer SS and black for a sports watch over colors, this black and blue is an exception, and exceptionally appealing. Never cared for the green, not at all the Pepsi, the Coke is just ok. This BLNR, though, is one I'd wear gladly.

If they ever do a ceramic Pepsi the BLNR allure will taper pretty fast, IMO.

GMTc is a great watch regardless of the bezel color. Probably the most comfortable modern day Rolex.

BLNR is easier to wear than other colors in the sports line - like LV sub or white/orange Milgauss. These colors suit only some - like me ;-).

BLNR is not a fad, it will continue to sell quite well I think.

I think you need a big wrist in order to pull off some of the new Rolexes. Most of them are chunky, and would look disproportionate on my wrist, for example. I personally don't wear any watch over 40mm, and the new Rolexes in that size give the illusion that they are bigger.

Definitely try it on before purchasing. I recently took my newly acquired Explorer II 2005 (Older model) to an AD to adjust the bracelet. I had the opportunity to try on the newer version, and let's say it looked a bit cartoonish. I'm glad i went with the older version, and am convinced i can never wear the newer one. Best of luck on your purchase.

Can't see them making a ceramic Pepsi in SS...this will have to do for now. I've owned a few Rolexes but this is all that remains.

I rarely dream about material things. I had a few dreams about a black 911 when I was a teenager. But most recently, I had a dream that I got a BLNR. I even tried hiding it from my wife. Woke up and thought I owned it... That's how powerful this piece is.

I still prefer the classic GMT IIC all black, but I understand the watch's appeal.

As long as Rolex continues to produce it demand should drop. I really like mine..but if they come out with a Pepsi it will be for sale!

It is not a fad, but it will surely be readily available soon enough, as most other Rolex pieces. I've seen it at ADs, just call around.

Awesome story.

My BLNR goes great with my 911.

I think it's great. What I find funny is that when it first came out most of the comments were negative. People seemed disappointed that it wasn't a Pepsi. Now you don't see anything negative at all. Seems that the majority of people have grown to like it. Because it took a couple weeks for people to digest the color scheme I would say that it's not going out of style any time soon. Just My opinion

I think it is here to stay.

I looked at one at the Rolex boutique (run by Geary's) in Beverly Hills. Very handsome. Were I in the market for a GMT ceramic, I would choose it over the all black version...and would also choose it over the red/black or red/blue combinations if they were available in the GMT ceramic.

However, I'm content with my old GMT Master ll, red/black bezel, which I bought new in 2002. I prefer its case and dial design over the new model.

Rolex doesn't do fads. The BLNR is a future classic. It's gorgeous in person, but the blue is lot darker in real life than most pictures show. Looks more like this unless in direct sunlight I suppose.

I see the BLNR as a "fad" in the same way that the LV subs and Pepsi and Coke GMTs are fads.

That is, a "fad" that is enduring and with no end in sight.....

I picked up my first Rolex last week and it happens to be a BLNR. I said it before and I'll say it again, this piece can sometimes be photographically unattractive. In many online photos out there, the blue bezel-half can sometimes seem so overpowering maybe due to bright lighting conditions. But trust me, the piece looks a whole lot better when you actually go see one. The way the black and blue blends is very smooth. Sometimes at low to moderate lighting, the bezel may even look almost entirely black. My advise for those who say they don't like it yet haven't seen one up close should first go check one out before making final thoughts. If by then it still does not sing to you, then you'll know for sure that it's just not for you!

Its a pity the inserts are not easily interchangeable like on the aluminum insert watches and around the same price then you would have a very fine GMT all round watch. But that would be to easy as Rolex wants you to buy another watch which I suppose is good marketing for little more than a few font and insert&hand colour changes.

Here to stay.
It's one of the "hot" and more desirable pieces right now because it's new.
This time next year, everyone will be talking about the 2014 Basel additions.
Regardless, the BLNR is is a great GMT and I would expect lots of long term love. (From me anyway).

The BLNR will be around for a while
I know at times it doesn't seem like it, but Rolex know exactly what they're doing & have their buyer market weighed up perfectly

If the next GMT ceramic bezel incantation were to be Black / Slightly Less Black folks would moan that it should have been Pepsi (like God intended) but there still would be a huge demand for it

Just one more Rolex in the line up.

The future will tell the story.

I doubt that it will sell more than the old models.

I would certainly still choose my GMT TTc and my Pepsi before this one.

I think it will get some competition down the line from a green/black, rootbeer and eventually a red/black and red/blue GMT's. Personally I'm not a fan of the color execution of the ceramic inserts, the aluminum ones looks way better.

I have this piece incoming... I couldn't wait so I checked it out at a local AD. The black and blue bezel looks marvelous. The way it shines in the light makes it stand out. At the same time, it looks very subtle and classy all around. I definitely do not believe this one is a fad. It IS an addition to the combination like red/blue or red/black. This one is staying.
