1680 date needs service and parts help!

Aloha!
I recently have been lucky enough to come across this well lived 1680. As you can see it needs work and service. Id like to try to keep as true to the original as possible but i know that may be costly. As for the dial i like the patina and prob do not want to fix the lume, but i need a new crystal and bezel set for sure. This serial number comes up as being manufactured in 1979. The watch started up right away, i cant find out how to set the date though? Any help would be great, looking at taking it to a reputable service shop tomorrow but would rolex service too?

Thanks in advance

You can find parts that you want on eBay. Beware of fakes. They'll be a bit pricey but not marked up as much as a watchmaker who has them or can source. Fortunately my guy lets me source original, unused parts to save some money and he'll honor his warranty after servicing. Find a good Rolex guy in Hawaii where you are or send out to someone with a stash of parts. Most would recommend Bob Ridley for that. Whatever you choose to do; to get it restored they way you want based on what you described you needed will cost you. Granted we can't see a picture

Maybe keeping it's original condition adds to it's character and provenance. It's your decision obviously. I'm not a fan of re-luming anything vintage.

Good luck and show pictures.

To set the date, you move the hands forward past midnight. Try to figure out how to show photos before buying any replacement parts.
