Steaks vs burgers
Am I on my own, or do others feel the same...
I have a great small collection of new and vintage "luxury" watches including a JLC Geophysic 1958, Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch, vintage Rolex Osyter Date and vintage gold IWC. But I also own a Seiko SKX009J1 and absolutely love it. I also find myself getting crazy excited for the new Seiko "Samurai" SRPB09. Whilst these Seiko's aren't necessarily the "steak" on the menu, the combination of stunning dials, beautifully crafted cases, in house movements, limited editions, packed into a watch for a few hundred £££, makes them a pretty decent "burger" to me. Am I on my own? |

Naaa,. your not alone... I own a nice collection. I still catch myself looking at the SKX007 as a beater / beach watch. They are cool, like the oversized hour markers for sure!

Love Seiko, in addition to Rolex, Omega, IWC, JLC, etc.

Nope, I agree with you - Seiko are a complete joy, in a very different way to Swiss luxury. I love my 'Monster' & '5' models.
Obviously, watch aficionados know how amazing Seiko is - perhaps the most 'in-house' you can get, superb value & technological trailblazers - but it's their very foreign nature that makes them so intriguing. Whilst everyone in Europe is making the same old Submariner-alikes, boring dress watches & rehashing past models, Seiko couldn't care less about Western preferences & have a huge Eastern market, so they do things a little differently, which is refreshing. Also, I sometimes fret that I don't wear some (more expensive) Swiss/German models as much as I should, given the money paid (and tied-up in them), but Seiko's are so cheap you can buy & keep piles of them, and wear them however & wherever you like - the ultimate in guilt/worry free horology. I look upon them as refreshing - to borrow a culinary term, they're almost the equivalent of a 'palate cleanser' within my collection - I always enjoy a Seiko once I strap it on. |

Even if you can afford eating 3 Michelin star at every meal there is always enjoyment in a well prepared less sophisticated bite!

I'll take a quality burger over a steak that is anything less than perfect all day! I appreciate seikos and have numerous lower price point pieces but sadly I don't wear them as much.
What is Tudor? Waygu burger or onglet? I'm thinking Onglet. |

Ditto. But the difference is I do wear mine (both Seikos) in rotation. The three I don't normally wear are my 2 G-Shocks and my Citizen Skyhawk. Those mostly sit on the windowsill soaking up the sun.
