16710 Coke?

Hello! I have a 16710 with black bezel insert. I replaced the bezel with a genuine coke insert.

I believe that the coke sells more than the black?

My question is, can I sell this as a 16710 coke? or is it a black gmt with an extra coke insert?

Thanks!

Welcome. TBH I'd say a lunette noir is equal price to a lunette noir/rouge. At the end of the day sell it how you like - originality of Rolex parts, condition and the set is most important. If you have a full set incl tags etc sometimes, dependant on country/retailer, the original bezel insert colour designation is shown on the warranty or swing tag btw.

You can sell your watch with whatever insert you want to, they are interchangeable and always have been.

If you want to claim that it came originally with the black/red, then you are being less than honest.

They do not sell for more, you simply have a larger group who prefer one insert over another.

All the sapphire GMT bezel inserts have the same retail price from the RSC or a Rolex AD. On the secondary market, the GMT II sapphire "Coke" inserts sell for over double what a black insert brings. With that said, a "Coke" insert on a 16710, at least based on my experience, would definitely be more valuable than a black insert.

I've sold many inserts the past 25 years and it was a very rare occasion when I had someone ask me for a black insert for a sapphire GMT model. The black acrylic crystal GMT bezel inserts would be a totally different story.

For many many years they (including the Pepsi) were considered the same watch - given that the only difference is the insert itself.

Later examples of the 16710 (16710T) came with papers that outlined the original specification of the watch, including which insert the watch came with from factory.

If you have an older 16710, this information would not have been specified by Rolex on the paperwork.

As far as value, pepsis always seem to fetch a bit more. Coke and LN are similar price-wise.

PS. I think it's HILARIOUS that people (who clearly have no idea) pay more for what they think is a "PEPSI". IMO it's just a GMTII with your choice of insert lol.

This pretty much sums it up. Not too hard to obtain all three inserts then you have all bases covered
