Final decision- 5296G or R (Sector Dial)
Hi friends-
I’ve finally made a decision to acquire the 5296 but the struggle is currently between the G or R version. Both appeal to me but I keep moving between the white gold simplicity vs the “vintage” look of the RG version. I don’t know if this makes sense but though I find the white gold compliments the dial better, something about the rose gold pushes it just above being a bit too simple. Any thoughts or pictures to help me decide? My only concern about the RG version is that it might stick out too much with the colored gold. Any advice would be much appreciated. Congrats on making that decision. I like the G as it complements the dial and appears very versatile where you can dress it up for work and dress down for weekends with jeans/shorts.

I prefer g but I am biased. I like that I can dress it down a bit more. That said I think the r does look warmer as the dial plays well off the rose gold. Can’t go wrong here.

I have unabashedly been peppering this forum with pics of mine since I bought it. To spare the repetition you can find a bunch of 5296g pics by looking through my recent posts. Cheers! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

In own a 5396G with a sector dial. I chose the G because you can put a brown calf strap with a pin buckle and dress it down. Or you can put a blue alligator with a deployant and dress it up. The blue/silver dial and blue hands go well with the white gold case. I hope that helps.

Need some thoughts...Someone is offering me a G version at a very good price but the catch is that the bezel is heavily scratched: not deep scratches but hairlines all over. The price is offered such that it would save me enough money for a service.

Hairlines you will have to embrace given the polished finish of the bezel. So I wouldn’t worry about that at all. As Mr. Ninja said, they will polish out quick if it really bothers you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

my rationale with the white metal sector combo was that it was/is closer to it's scientific/tool origins and more casual (which was what attracted me to the sector in the first place)

You can pm me if you like but the 5-10 is in the jewelry district in NYC. Unless its nautilus, aquanaut and royal oak thebpolishing is pretty basic. But Patek will cost more but for you butbit would give u peace of mind. I assume patek polishing is couple of hundred bucks. |
