I'd probably do it - Depending on how much cash you need to throw in

Thanks everyone for all the input, this is why the forum is amazing. Looks like it is close to a 50/50 split, in hindsight I should have put a poll up.

This post hit it on the head. I keep going back and forth but I think I am going to hold off on making this move until I am 100% certain I will not miss the 2 pieces I currently have

I know I will need to add a bit of funds as well and I don’t have the money to simply add the 116619lb

Any opinions on if the forum would rather have my 2 ss vs 1 pm would be appreciated
If smurf is the grail, I say go for it. Like many have mentioned if it’s based on value and availability, I would suggest keeping the two instead. I think the smurf as much as it’s hard to find is still relatively easier than the other two.

Good luck on whatever decision you make, can’t go wrong with either decision.

Aside from that, that blue stands out in an incredible way!

Do it!
SS is so easy to replicate. Main reason why I wouldn't get a SS rolex tbh.

Yeah, why not. I am perpetually wanting to trade a couple of SS for a PM, as yet I haven't done it. If I were to do it I'd be hard pushed to choose between the GMT 116719, Submariner 116619 or the Daytona 116509!

The blue of the smurf is something else

Yes. You could then work to acquire either of the SS pieces down the road at msrp from an AD

I wouldn’t do it myself. I’d prefer the versatility of having the 2 you have.

I wouldnt do it. Two is one and one is none...I much rather have both SS pieces than a PM piece.

Good choice.

That’s what I thought. That’s it’s much easier to get a Smurf than a LVc or a BLNR, which increases to an even greater gap if one considers getting BOTH SS pieces.

I personally would not make that trade unless I was absolutely certain that the Smurf was my ultimate grail (with no cognitive dissonance at all expected), that I was okay giving up two watches that are difficult to find with ease at MSRP, and I didn’t have a choice of simply adding the Smurf.

wouldnt do it. two watches are appreciating one is depreciating. gold rolex dont appreciate net of inflation unless they are super rare. the smurf is not.

After thinking about it for a while, I wouldn't do it. Agree with the post above.

That said, if the Smurf is truly your grail watch, that can sway any decision. Good luck!

I wish I was in this position, as the Smurf is is an amazingly beautiful watch... A grail of mine behind the elusive 126710 Pepsi (at MSRP, that is)... I would do it and wear it with pride almost every day.

But I'm not in your shoes, and honestly, no one else is, either, so make the decision that you can live with. If it's an itch that will keep itching until you can scratch it, I say make the move now and be happy. If you think it will go away with time... well, that's your call. I personally am not a fan of the LVc; green watches aren't my thing. But the BLNR is beautiful, just not my style, either.

Wise words...very well stated. I have been thinking along these same lines recently.
