Comparing these two watches is like comparing apples and oranges I know, but still if you had the opportunity to get one of these for the same price which would you choose? What is your opinion on aesthetics, everyday wear, value retention, caliber quality, movement finish etc.?

Zeitwerk hands down, beyond any shadow of a doubt.
It’s case thickness is the only area that raises a slight concern, but if you’ve never had a slender watch like the Nautiluses, Royal Oaks, etc, then it’s probably not going to be an issue.
Finishing on the Lange’s movement will be definitely superior to the Patek’s, but for all intents and purposes, they’re practically the same when not being scrutinised with the aid of a loupe.
Aesthetics are purely personal, so no point asking about that – you’re the one it has to please, no-one else.
There’s also the added ‘benefit’ of knowing there are less Langes in circulation than Pateks, so it’s that bit more exclusive, and certainly more unique in how it presents the time.
Buying the Zeitwerk pre-owned will definitely help offset the cost of ownership, should you ever decide to move it on.

I’d prefer the ZW in all of those categories except maybe value retention. Long term may be a different story for value though but short term nautilus is king for that.

ZW by a mile. I really like the 5726 too but its no contest. Only buy it if you are keeping it though.

If you can wear it comfortably then the ZW all day. There's nothing like it.

If it's of any way important to you the chances of bumping into another ZW outside of an ALS collector gtg is far far slimmer than bumping into another Nautilus.

I am going with the 5726/1a. To me it's the more beautiful watch, has a more useful complication and retains value very well.

ZW for sure, at 42mm it wears fine on my wrist and not too thick either, the 44mm was probably too big.

The Nautilus is a classic and a gorgeous watch, but to me the ZW is a different level. ALS for me
