Looking to buy a vintage Day Date
I’m looking to buy a vintage Day Date 1803.
I can see different years, like 1969 and 1975. Could somebody please tell me, any pros and cons of buying a 1969 vs. 1975 and vice versa? Thank you so much! |

From what I’ve observed, 1975 and 1976 rolex are pretty rare for some reason. Other than that i don’t see any reason to prefer one over the other based on year. Early 60s dial and hands designs have the upper hand though IMO.

That sounds good..
To be honest the most ones that i have found are from late 60's. Another thing is, I would love a white dial with roman numerals, but for some reason, that is just impossible to find? Does anybody know why. |

Although the overall design is largely unchanged on the Day-Date over decades, there are subtle differences, even within just the vintage models. I personally love the "pie-pan" dial on the 1803s so went with that reference vs. newer references (18038 for example that has quickset feature). Here are some informational readings:
https://beckertime.com/history-of-the-rolex-day-date/ Notice the subtle dial and hand differences: In addition to the pie-pan dial, I also prefer not having the small roman numerals on the minute track which I believe started with the 5-digit references (right-most watch above).

If you are referring to a Buckley dial, the reason why they are hard to find is because they are rare.

Or, are you looking for Roman numeral hour markers instead of stick markers? I just got my white dial DD with Roman markers, but a 5 digit and a one year search.

Thank you so much guys!
Yes i am referring to a Buckley dial. I did not know it was called this, where does the name come from? I have found one with a Buckley dial after quite some search, but now that I have been looking on one with regular index lines, I am so much in doubt. What to choose? Both are gold DD's with a white dial, so the more rare Buckley or the more minimalistic/cleaner look of the index lines... What do you guys think? |

I think dial preference is entirely personal. Buy what YOU want!
Personally, I do love the white dials. |

Just got my white dial DD yesterday. My search lasted well over a year.

Okay 1803 owners and experts - how many links are on a fully linked non-hidden clasp bracelet? I'm looking at a 1968 model and need it to fit a 7.5 inch wrist. Help!

On my 1803 (7.5" wrist, President bracelet) I have 11 links on one side and 8 on the other, not including endlinks, and it's on the third-loosest microadjust (clasp position) so quite a bit of room. On my Jubilee I have 11 links on one side and 9 on the other, not including endlinks, and that's on the fourth-loosest microadjust, tons of room. FYI the extra links cost me USD250 per link from MY, not cheap. Best of luck
