New Panerai CEO 2018
As I am sure some have heard, the current CEO of Roger Dubuis will become the next CEO of Panerai starting in April of 2018. What are your thoughts on this?

I hadn’t heard. Any publications pointing to this?

I saw it on the Panerai Central IG. I am searching for an article to validate.

The thing with the IG post is that when I went to the site of the page that posted it, theres zero information about it.

Could he have been pushed due to poor sales? Or perhaps just to shake things up - the brand is arguably becoming a little stale?

Personally, I found SIHH 2017 to have been their best in years, so, no, I don't think it's a question of being "stale". As for sales, that's the whole industry...and Panerai has been pushing hard with the boutiques, which had to have been approved further up the chain. So, either old age and/or a desire to shake things up seems the most likely to me. |

Panerai seems to be increasing their Boutique count and decreasing AD’s.

I really like Panerai but they seem to me to have lost the path years ago and have been chasing profits at the expense of customers and brand loyalty. I wish him luck and hope the brand can move forward in a good way.

The thing about Panerai is they never sold a lot to begin with and are not on the same scale, nor do they wish to be on the same scale, as a Rolex or any other high volume brand. There was a lot of hype and hysteria over the brand and it SEEMED like they were alot bigger than they were. From the outside looking in, it would seem that they lost their way to some who were caught up in the hype, but I believe that they have been hit no harder than any other luxury brand in the current "luxury watch" recession. The brand is a bit "boutique" in of itself and is not for everyone. Never was. Never will be.
I say all of this to say, Panerai is going to be juuuuussst fine. |

I hope there will be a continued focus on service after the sale. I feel this will benefit them greatly.

Got it. Thanks. Although I do not know how much of a discount you can get from an AD I would imaging that will end if they move to a pure boutique model. Im sure there will always be ADs though.

Anyone anticipate a price jump in the future?

I think if you’re looking for a larger watch, this is the brand to go with. I think if your looking for a specialty case material (DLC, ceramic, Carbotech, etc) this is the brand to go with. Boutique is the best way to describe them. |

[QUOTE=Dan2010;8111495]The thing about Panerai is they never sold a lot to begin with and are not on the same scale, nor do they wish to be on the same scale, as a Rolex or any other high volume brand. I say all of this to say, Panerai is going to be juuuuussst fine.[ Agree. No one here has seen sales numbers for Panerai or any other Richemont brand for that matter and there's nothing to suggest that Panerai is suffering any more or less than the others. This year was for me one of the best in terms of new releases in a long long time, and it seems that was the general take away for many brand supporters. Now if they would just release a 44mm Bronzo which was widely enough available for almost everyone who wanted one to get one then I'd be back on the wagon. |
