Gmt ii 16710 2006

What do we think about this? The price is OK, as I can trade in my HK bought 2006 Submariner in London for more than I paid for it. Love the black and red GMT.

To be fair, all these watches are going to be worth more in 20 years.

I think the price is alright if you can call it that - it's quite mad how these prices have jumped. A year ago I bought a Pepsi 2006 box and papers from WF for £5950.

For that price the least they can do is include the correct box.

Maybe that's why it is at that price, as they consider it an upgrade!

Looks like a stick dial too. I’d jump on it.

That is the correct box, guys. I have the same watch - D serial 16710 - purchased new from AD in Jan 2006 and it came in that exact box.

does anyone else think the prices on watchfinder are ridiculously expensive?! I look and simply laugh at some of the prices they have on there! There must be people that pay it though so fair enough!

In 2006? Y1 serial is more like 2001. You do know that Rolex has changed the boxes over the years, right?

That moon crater outer box is at least ten years older than your watch.

Loving it. Mine was £3250 in 2011 worn gingerly now elevated to almost safequeen status. I never intend to sell it but I've come across a few others for even less in similar minty condition. If only my crystal ball hadn't broke.

Stick dial? What's that big man?

I wanted one with the solid end links, as new as possible so it lasts, and without the lug holes which upset me.

Final question; if I buy this coke bezel gmt and take it for a service, and request they change it to a pepsi, will they?

Yes.
Sticks dial refers to the II in the GMT Master II. It doesn't have the serifs on top and bottom of the I's. Some think it's an error dial which makes it more valuable, but it is not an error dial, so really doesn't make any difference. That said, these 16710's are going through the roof- I bought mine a couple months ago.

As an FYI, a Rolex Service Center service will run about $700 plus whatever they find needing replacement. If you only want the Pepsi bezel insert you should be able to get a brand new for $100, no more. That's what jewelers with a Rolex parts account charge. That said, with any watch over 10 years old with no service history, you should get it serviced at least to ensure the seals, oils, mainspring, etc. are in good order. Send it to Vanessa for service. You will get better service at less cost, and a faster turn-around time. Tell her I sent you:)

WATCHFINDER is a bit more costly than USA prices but their service and after sdales support is excellent
Happy to recommend them

This seems too cheap, does it not? On a relative basis anyway.
