I do like it, would rather have a blue bezel but this somehow works for me, have to see it in the flesh but its good to have something different so I am ok with it.

Whenever I see this, I keep thinking about the South Park James Cameron episode.... Needless to say, that is not a good thing.

I agree, like the idea but hate the tie in.

I like it and I'm happy Rolex is doing something new after Basel, I don't think I would purchase it because I can't swim:)

I remember seeing the same collective gasp when the blue dial Milgauss was released. (Now TRM members are voting for the blue dial 44% to 38% black to 18% undecided.) And, of course, Rolex's new CEO wasn't around for that or for Batman either, so it seems that colorific experimentation has been in the works for some time.

I love it, but have to see it in person first!

What I really love is that the watch design ties in very well with the commemoration of that dive. The blue gradient shows a transit between shallow waters and deep water. The green "Deepsea" reflects the colour of JC's submarine and they cleverly move the word "Deepsea" from the top half of the dial (original version) to the bottom half, implying the green submarine is diving along the deep waters.

So the design carries a story which make excellent conversation about this dive.

Wonderful....and overall, it looks cool and exciting.

So is this watch a limited edition? If so, that's what I'm most surprised about. As far as I know, Rolex has never had a limited edition watch. I really hope that this doesn't become a trend with Rolex.

Well they got the Invicta look down. How they are gonna get Rolex money for it will be nothing short of amazing. Its simply a embarrassing effort for such a classic company like Rolex. The Omega James Bond watches are looking down right classy in comparison.

Disappointing.

Commemorative models are something I would only expect Rolex's competitors to do.

This is exactly what I expected. Wait until members own it, and the threads/posts/pics start - then will begin the classic "Damning with faint praise" You gotta love it....I do

It's a nice watch, but Rolex has kind of taken a page out of Breitling's book by hyping a new watch with a simple color difference and commemorating it for something special. At least they didn't make it a limited edition like Breitling does...

I'm sorry Rolex, you lost me on this one.

The deepsea seems pointless to me to begin with, and now this... Tacky DEEPSEA on the dial, unimaginative blue dial, etc

I assume it is too early for Mr. Doufour's lame special editions to hit the market, think Rolling Stones Zenith, but who know. Such a small variation can be done overnight I guess and I think some spent all of five minutes on this watch.

I don't know. On reflection, I think I like the new Deep Weed.

But I know I'll look silly wearing it, so it's still a no-go.

I'm thinking it looks pretty sharp and I actually like the green lettering. However, I gotta admit I am really going back and forth on deciding if I'd prefer it to have a deep blue bezel.

I'm seeing many of the haters turning into buyers, just like many other models Rolex came out with.
I just hope this is a one time thing, not a trend.

I will be popping in tomorrow to see if they have a model for viewing.

My son thinks it's very cool. I'm more inclined to the Sub but if I was looking at going for a DeepSea I think it looks cool also. I think it's going to do well.
