However, I am fairly risk averse and unfortunately at times that carries over into my watch choices. Heck, I don't even get optional equipment, sunroof, etc in my vehicles because I tend to think "just something else to break". |

A Submariner has no date.
If you want a date, you have to buy the Submariner Date. I depends on what you want.

If this is a choice between two models, then you have several pages of fine input to guide you. If however the first priority is to own a Submariner, then there is nothing more to ponder and you are free to purchase with unwavering resolve. |

Awesome! And thanks for the follow up wrist shot. So many threads where the OP asks a question about which one to get and then never tells us what happened.

quite an old thread, but i want to put out my point since i just got a ND sub some weeks ago....
i had a datejust before, and while i prefer my new daily wearer plastic sub way more in every way,i do miss the date everyday,i use it a lot in class and always have to take my phone out to see the date,so it's a pain in the ass... the nd is cleaner and cheaper, just the way i like it (also people won't know it's a sub 5 feet away)..... id go date if you write a lot or etc,it's nice addition and i'm also considering getting a 16610 in the future.... |

Yeah I think you don't realise how much you refer to the date till is not there. I had the same issue after wanting an ND sub for ages.

My 1st was a no date sub but I was a kid and broke.
Get the date if you can spend the extra $1000. Buy a no date ironically as your 6th Rolex. Not 1st. When I added my Daytona I felt the impact of no date as I have to be aware at the glance of a wrist. Just my .02 |

This advice here. Along with the BLNR, the 114060 is the best Rolex sport model in my humble opinion.

I was in the same position as you about a month ago. I went with the date. I love the cyclops. And resale value in my country is better with the date version.

I have both. Cyclops is a Rolex hallmark and more practical if you're going to wear the watch for work etc.

If you've never had a watch with a date on it then go for the no date, if you've had a date watch then you'll have become accustomed to glancing at your wrist for the date, so go for the sub date

I too am waiting for my first Rolex and like you looked at the Sub. I decided to go for the Seadweller 4000. For me it wears better, has more presence, is not too flat or boxy.
If you're torn between the two, maybe you're not sure at all. Don't go for what others think, go for the one you like. I did not want a cyclops on a diver watch (yet like it on the GMT) yet the date feature is handy I tried on the Seadweller which I was not at all intrested in due to the 'hype' around the Sub and when I did, that was it! What ever you do, good luck! |

No date sub gets my vote. I had a similar dilemma but then decided if I was going to have a date then it would be a GMT for the extra time zone complication. So, for me the choice became no date sub vs GMT.
I ended up with GMT but will add a no date sub at some point. Either way, you can't go wrong - they are all great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

No Date without any doubt. Historical link to the Original Submariner, balanced design and "understated". I got my 114060 almost 3 years ago and I love it more every single day !

No date as well. I just purchased one today and it's beautiful. I've had many subs over the past 20 years, including a 14060M - and this 114060 is beauty!
Honestly though, you can't go wrong either way! |
