AP in 2020

Good morning fellow AP owners.

I was curious of your thoughts on AP releases in 2020.

Will they put an in-house movement in the ROC?

Will AP make more 42mm ROOs with rectangle chrono buttons like the new 2019 42mm titanium?

What are your other thoughts on releases?

Thanks

I’m hoping for steel versions of the code line with a revamped dial

I'd love to see the gold versions with a revamped dial. I'd be very interested if they fixed the dials. That case is gorgeous.

A ROC with the new inhouse movement would be nice and a new RO with 39 mm that can be acquired without a 2 years waiting period

I would like to see a Code in ss with a panda dial in royal blue like this photo shows, obviously the lighting has played its part here.

I second the ROC comment - new in-house movement

If they revamped the code, it would be a kick in the teeth to anyone who bought a the first iteration. They would be admitting they screwed the pooch, even though adamantly denying that at this time.

For Rolex or Patek owners it would be a huge win for them getting a short production dial lol

This watch is so ugly though not sure it applies

I don’t think AP will do much to the code line this year.

Probably more cool high end stuff and meh stuff in my budget :(

The inhouse chrono moving into the Royal Oak line and/or the Offshore line can be expected. I guess they have to find a way to recover the development cost of the inhouse movement and just limiting them to the Code line isn't going to do it.

Do you all think they’ll make more 42mm ROO with rectangle chrono pushers?

I'm guessing it will depend on the popularity of the current release. If it ends up being a big hit, I can't see them not expanding the selection.

Depends on what you consider a revamp.

I think the mid-case, skeleton lugs, concave crystal, and new movements will remain, and those are the essential hallmarks of the line.

Tweaks to the dials were to be expected from day one (probably even earlier internally). With the backlash, maybe the dials will undergo more than minor tweaks. I’m really mostly talking about the 3 hander and chrono dials.

Stainless steel options are a possibility down the road. Not sure they want to go there, though.

Maybe they keep any new dials in PM, and only move the existing 3 hander and chrono dials to SS? That would maybe be a kick in the teeth to anyone who bought the first iteration.

That would be like the Pepsi going from WG to SS, but Rolex have managed to do it so AP surely can too, and it's much needed, esp in this market which is getting younger and more casual and looking for bargain SS prices.

Looks like Lange are going for a cheap-ish SS sports watch too, as they should.

Well, I guess they could follow Rolex even further and not have blue dial versions of the Code in SS. And/or offer dial swaps to current owners of the watches in PM, either to blue and/or to any dial revamps.

Thanks only to the light it actually looks good. I would need to walk around with a flashlight. At first I thought Breitling, but still nice.

I am still convinced that the code line would look better without the date window.

I'd like to see my phone receive a call from my AP AD in 2020 advising me that my 15202ST is ready for purchase :)
